What I'm dealing with this morning...

I woke up at 3am with a pain in my ankle... it feels as though a tendon or ligament is out of place and it's making it difficult to walk.  I hope it will just resolve itself within the next few days.  I think it happened in the middle of the night - at some point I took off my arch splint - when I woke up later that's when it hurt.

I am one of those people who "pops" their joints,  I am constantly rotating my feet to make my ankles feel better... that won't be happening today.

Hmmmm all of this the day after I received my information about the half marathon... I think maybe the running gods are trying to tell me something...

I was planning on going running today but I don't think I will be with the ankle like this.

Yesterday I purchased plane tickets to New York in February for the College Art Association Conference.  I used frequent flier miles so I only had to pay five bucks.  It's good to plan ahead... I'll be flying in and out of Newark but that's doable... I like New Jersey... I've been to the Ikea there a few times and the airport three times!  I can get a shuttle into the city and it will only cost 30 dollars round trip.

Now I just have to arrange for lodging.  I can always sleep on the futon at Maria's and Chris - my old home when I lived there in 2007... that might be a bit cramped... I may start saving and get a hotel room.  My friend Marty is thinking of going... maybe If I plan early enough I can get a good deal and split it with her (or some other grad school friends of mine)...  it's good to plan ahead...

I hear the coffee pot calling to me... I think I will hobble out to the kitchen and get another cup...

I want to go to New Jersey.

I have this desire to go to a Mall in New Jersey. I like shopping malls almost as much as grocery stores. They bring me comfort. My only problem right now is trying to figure out which mall to go to and how to get there.

Why New Jersey you ask? Because I've never been there and it seems like the place you would go to a mall.

If any of you out there know of any good malls let me know... it's raining today so I think it's a good idea if I can just figure out where to go and how to get there.

On another note, I went to see a movie yesterday - it was Wristcutter's a love story. I'm not quite sure weather I liked it or not. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best thing ever. But it was free so that's good.

Alone (but not) in the city...

I was just out looking for some dinner... I almost had to call someone to talk me down from the chip aisle at Duane Reade (it's like Walgreen's). I'm enjoying my time here but I often feel lonely. I suppose I often feel lonely even when I'm not alone... James suggested that I watch Taxi Driver when I stated that I thought Manhattan wasn't made for loners (like me)..

I wish I had more energy sometimes. I feel like I didn't do the normal things during my 20's and 30's and now when I think I might want to do them I'm too stinking tired to.

Okay enough reflection. I said I would talk about my run-in with the employees of Chili's (or something to that effect)...

This is Susan

She was part of a group that works for Chili's at the Garden State Mall in Paramus New Jersey. They were at the Today Show raising money for St. Judes I think... they were all very nice and somehow I ended up with the managers card, 20 bucks in gift certificates and bus directions on how to get there. I think I may have to take a field trip and document it for you all. I've never been to New Jersey!

Maria downgraded the cable and now everything's fuzzy... it reminds me of television watching in Chicago.

Well, I guess I better eat my nutritious dinner of chicken noodle soup and green beans... See you all tomorrow.
