Hijinks on the high seas...

I don't know if I spelled hijinks right but we'll just assume that it's right.

Here are photos from last night.

This is my lovely assistant Kristen and myself. (Please excuse the hair... I'm still adjusting to my new styling regimen).

It was too stinking cold to stay outside so we just went out for a few beauty shots.

Hey, Look! It's my Alaskan Amber enjoying the Seattle skyline!

This is Kristen's friend Lori - with Mr. Riemer....

This morning I am under the influence of a few things... a little too much beer, a lack of sleep and a cold which I believe which is finally here...

I am siting at the gallery today so come on by if you get a chance. You can wake me up from my nap.

I must be on drugs...

Have you ever had one of those days when you think you've got everything figured out and then realize you don't?

I been thinking that the show at Crawl Space ended this weekend but I was wrong... which is good news for all of you. I am just losing my mind that's all...

It sucks getting old.

In a perfect world I would have thin thighs, beer would have no calories and I would have someone to hold my hair back while I barfed... Oh the dreams I aspire to.

I got a message from my friend Tia yesterday... you might recall she is the one who works at McMurdo Station and met Ann Curry. She is living in Seattle now and is having an open studio tonight. She makes great jewelery that incorporates hand made paper. I'm going to buy me some more... I wore one of her necklaces yesterday and I got many compliments on it. She's a good person who makes good work.

I wish I was more popular.

Some days I look at my stat counter and I wish more people read this... but I supposed if I want more readers I should have more entertaining posts. Maybe I should post thrilling pictures of myself doing crazy stunts like watching television with only one eye... balancing a plate of food, a cup of coffee and carrying my dog all at once... Someone at Artist Trust did look at I heart Ann yesterday so that means I successfully mailed my grant application.

Okay, we're going nowhere here...

I am in charge of picking up the refreshments for tonight's opening. I am in a quandary because I'm a microbeer girl on a Raineer budget. Do I get beer that I would personally like to drink or do I get something less expensive? Maybe I'll get some of each. I'll let you know how it all pans out.

I have cramps.

I guess I should put the pedal to the metal, get a leg on... go with the flow (oops - maybe I shouldn't have said the last one with the talk of being crampy and all...).

Remember to come out to Crawl Space tonight for our opening... I promise there will be good food.

Something is missing...

I'm feeling a bit ambivalent today... not quite sure what I want to do. But considering I'll be going to bed in a few short hours I guess that's alright.

I'm not sure if I like New York or not. Maybe if I had some more friends or family here I might... but even then I'm not sure...

Maybe if I felt like I was a "real" artist it might be different - but sometimes I feel like I'm just pretending. I know deep down that I am an artist I just have to convince myself of it sometimes.

More things I've been thinking about...

the act of holding another person's hand...
butterflies (there seems to be quite a few here...)
beer (Alaskan Amber specifically)
crushes

What a day...

I'd say something witty but I don't have the energy. please see I heart Ann for all the exciting details of my day... I spent most of the afternoon at the studio getting things set up. There's a few of us in the space and I have just a little section of it... If I need some more space I'm going to kick some ass. I'm not afraid to do it too (you can tell from my tone of voice that I'm a bit cranky and tired).

I found out today where I need to go to get groceries and produce. I also heard about some good local beer... you know how I love beer.

I'm afraid I need to go and sleep. When I am better rested I will give an illustrious recap of my almost first week in New York.

Tonight's the night!

I am going to attempt to run for the first time in three months... I mean REALLY run. I'm going to make an audio recording durning it as well. I hope I don't fall.

I am meeting up with my friend Nick before the race. He's a camp person - we're going out for a beer after the run. That should be fun. Maybe I can get him to be my wingman. I don't know exactly how to use a wingman but I'm sure I could figure it out. I just have to try not to sweat too much. I suppose a glow wouldn't be too bad. I will report back tomorrow as to how I do.

The beginning of a new era.

This morning I am selecting the title of my post from the drop down list that pops up when I type in a word. This morning that word was "the".

Let's see, how today can be the beginning of a new era? Well, I could vow never to eat chocolate or drink beer again - now that would be the beginning of something... I could get off my ass and go to church... that might be the beginning of something... I will consider these options... maybe I'll clean up my apartment.

I'll be watching you.

I love technology. It enables me to see who is checking up on me. I have a tracker which shows me the path of who loads my blog page. I have also posted a personal profile on yahoo personals... (okay don't go checking it out)... but I looked at some guy's profile this morning and he could tell that I looked at his profile so he checked out mine (get it?). He was cute - but he's looking for someone younger I think. It's sort of like high tech flirting. I suppose I could send the cute guy an email.. I'll consider it.

I'm all set to go to the Party. I went to Borders and bought a New York map and guide book for my trip. I then went and bought beer for the party... Redhook ESB. My second favorite beer in the world... my favorite you might recall is Alaskan Amber. You can't get it in Chicago... it's a shame. I have one in my fridge.. I'm just waiting for the right moment to drink it.

That's one reason I can't stay in Chicago when I'm done with school.... If I can't have my favorite beer what's the point?

Okay, I should know from New Years eve that I shouldn't start drinking before the party.... oh well, it could make the party more interesting.

Seriously now...

I need to get back on the wagon. Both with food and drink... I'm not doing what I'd like.... I think I might go to Stanley's on the way home tonight. I will have my U-Pass so I can traipse all over the city via public transportation. If I set myself up with good things to eat I think I'll be headed in the right direction.

Last night Jefferson called and I met Him, Jeroen, Gillian, Karolina, Dan a Zak at Friar Tuck's. We had beer and popcorn and played a game called two truths and a lie. You learn some interesting things about people with that game - but nothing I can share here.

Today I'm going to School to pick up the u pass and drop off forms for Financial Aid and then work in the studio (hopefully). At least that's the plan. I should do dishes and laundry as well. I haven't cleaned up at all since my return on Friday and it's looking scary!

Secretly I'm Hoping...

That the Bears lose today. Right now they're ahead 9 nothing. Oh well, a girl can dream.

In the post "Troppo Birre Ieri Sera" I mentioned that I had too much beer... it was only later that I was reminded of the fact that the bartender at the wine bar gave us tequila shots on the way out (two of them I seem to recall)... that's why I was feeling it the next day. As I was saying earlier though I have no regrets - even that.

Troppo Birre ieri sera

I think that means too much beer last night... what I mean to say is that the night before last I had too much beer... let's just say that after I posted from the bar I went back again (around 6) and didn't get back until 2:30 in the morning... I did have a good time though so I can't complain.

I think I drank most of my research grant.

This morning we're off to the duomo to climb up in it. Talk to you all later.

Semi-Sweet Home Chicago.

I'm back in the windy city. My flight went well and I am happy to report the the four leftover bottles of Alaskan Amber I packed in my suitcase survived the trip. Before I got on the plane I decided to pick up some fish and chips at Anthony's Fish Bar. It was really good... it sure beats the five dollar sandwich they try to sell you on the plane.

One of the things I do like about Chicago is that I don't feel cold all the time. I think I could walk around in my bare feet and still feel toasty!

I heart my new iPod.

Today I broke down and bought a new video iPod. It's sleek and black and 30 gigabytes! It holds all my songs - even my Celine Dion and Yanni (oops - I probably shouldn't mention those artists...). The only drawback is that my version of iPhoto doesn't work on it so I will most likely have to purchase iLife in order to have pictures of my work on my iPod.

Tonight is my last night in Seattle until sometime in June. I'm drinking my Alaskan Amber because I can and it's good and I can't buy it in Chicago. I might even get drunk.... my only plans are to go to WW tomorrow morning, then pack and head to the airport... they sell Alaskan Amber on the plane... I might fork over five bucks for a beer on the plane!!!

If I could afford it I would buy a movie on iTunes, download it and then watch it on my iPod on the plane! Too bad I'm poor and too ashamed to watch risque movies on an airplane...
