Status.

Let me see...yesterday I ended up walking almost nine miles. I managed to stay awake until 10pm. I stayed within my points range (that 's Weight Watchers lingo)...

Today is weigh in - I think I should have a good result... I just have to not eat anything until after it. Since I'm only going to be in New York for a about six more weeks I should probably not buy any more grocery staples and make do with what I have... I just get into the habit of having to buy food even if I don't really need it.

Did I happen to mention that I had a conversation with James and Fi the other night (Fi is another friend of mine) about how to price artwork... it was interesting getting James' take on my work. It looks as though I can actually make money with what I'm doing - James runs a gallery and he told me what he would price my work at... it was more than I was thinking which is nice. I might actually be able to start paying my mother back all the money she's loaned me over the past few years. I also am going to buy a new digital camera if I make some money - I dropped mine yesterday in the middle of the Today show. It still works but It's on it's last legs.

Maybe I'll try to go back to sleep for a little while... I should go somewhere interesting today that I haven't been yet... let me sleep on it.

Howdy.

Today I walked over ten miles... my feet are sore, but it's just what I do sometimes. Do the things that bring me comfort. In this case it was walking. I still have that book called the history of walking which I should continue reading... I wish I could stick with things like that...

Maybe someday I will follow through.

Things that bring me comfort...
food
walking
repetitive actions
television
my laptop
puppies

Yesterday at ww I met a woman named Elaine. She lives around the corner from me. She said if I needed anything I could call her. That's nice. Her son lives in Seattle... maybe I'll look him up when I get back there... (he's also a blogger).

At my weigh in I was actually down .6 pounds from last month. That was a bit of a surprise to me... a nice one.

Well, I guess that's it for now... I have to make my sign for tomorrow.

Oh, my aching feet.

I've had a good day. Long, but good. It started out at the Today Show - Ann was out again today... I'll update I heart Ann when I'm done here.

I met up with my friends Travis and James (at different times...) James and I ended up walking around a lot... that's why my dogs are barking.

On another front I've been asked to review portfolios for National Portfolio Day at Parson's at the end of the month. Portfolio Day is when potential students bring in their portfolios and get feedback on them. I think I have to start studying up on things... It's nice to be thought of to do that... I get free food and I get paid!

I think I better go now.

I'm here...

I've found the following: my weight watchers meeting location, my bank, a cashier at the nearby Wallgreen's that used to work at the Chicago Walgreen's I shopped at. Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, D'agostinos (where I received my rewards card). The remote to the television, and Maria's computer which I will use until I have the password for the wifi in the apartment.

All I can say is that I've missed having to walk everywhere, food is expensive and it's going to be hard to live without a microwave oven.

Updates...

My new hard drive is in and it will be installed today or tomorrow (I'm guessing tomorrow)... tonight is the last class of my graduate career. I'm a bit ambivalent about it.

I'm ready to be done.

This week on the today show they are having segments on having babies... it's official, I'm too old. (I know that's not really true...not that I really want one but you know...). I have my dog.

On a cheery note, it's nice outside so I am going to seize the day and take a walk.

Smoothies....

I forgot to mention that my friend Marty bought me a jamba juice the other day... it was yummy. I told her it was blog worthy.

Today I went to the CTA office and paid for my replacement bus pass. I won't get it for another week or so. I walked over nine miles today... trying to keep from having to pay for bus fare and working off cookies.

This is the last Monday of my thirties. hasta la vista Lunedi (okay - that was Italian, but I don't remember Spanish from high school....)

a day without blogging

is like a day without sunshine. Okay, it wasn't that bad.. I did however go to bed at 9:30.

Today I started a new tradition. Going to a movie on Easter. I went to see Blades of Glory this morning. I give it a thumbs up. Worth six bucks....

This is the first Easter I haven't gone to church in a long time... kind of weird but I'll be okay.

I got a very nice invitation from Tonguethruster to go over to her place to dye easter eggs... I didn't actually go, but I appreciate the invitation.

This afternoon I think I will walk back to my place and work off that movie popcorn.

Being without a computer is like...

going without a computer. It is kind of nice... but weird.
Walked a butt-load the last few days... down about 4 lbs since last month (finally) and running like the wind.
I have to go to work now... I'll update you all when I can.

Welcome to my Birthday Month!

It is April! That means it's the beginning of my Birthday month... I love my birthday (usually). Three weeks from today I will be turning 40. I can't be that old can I?

In addition to it being my birthday month, there is also Secretaries Day (week), National Jelly Bean Day and Grange month...

Today I am going to walk some more.... I need to go to the cash machine... there's one out on Addison, past Target.

I'm thinking about signing up for the Wrigley Start Early Run 10k on the 21'st... I can run six miles... If I were to raise money (to fight child abuse) I could register for free... so if anyone wants to give me money just let me know.

My Niece the model.

That's my niece Katie the baby model on a Metro Bus. Maybe she'll become a model and we can live off her earnings (but only in the best sort of way....).

I bought a book today that was recommended by Ernesto Pujol. It's called Wanderlust A History of Walking by Rebecca Solnit. If you know me you know I'm not much of a reader but I've read the first chapter already. Since I do a lot of walking I thought I should get it.

24,446 steps...

That's the step count today.... I survived the run, I think I shaved a few minutes off my time. Then this afternoon I walked to Target to return a top (and purchase razors and deodorant)...

I'm pooped but I should work on my artist statement and resume. I picked up The Commitments at the library. I saw it a long time ago but thought I should see it again... maybe I'll watch that tonight.

Maybe I bath is in order????

I heart warm weather!

Today I braved the elements and bared my legs in public...(with a little help from Vaseline Intensive care lotion with self-tanner). I did the customary walk to Target (on Diversey) and back with a few detours. My grand total for the day is 8.76 miles and 19,159 steps so far.

I've been noticing on my walks that runners rarely have big thighs so I think I may have to up the ante and jog a bit...

I'm ready for

anything. Well maybe not anything... Tonight is the tapas and grappa(s) party. I'm ready for that... with the exceptions of taking a bath before I go. It's one of those little pleasures I have, taking a bath and smelling good afterwards.

This morning I walked and walked and walked. I should probably get a move on before I decide I can't move anymore.

20290 steps...

In an effort to wear myself out today I ended up walking almost nine and a half miles. If I can do that I can run a 5k race tomorrow morning.

It's been a long day. Starting with work this morning and ending up here. I did get quite a bit accomplished today although I still need to finish my artist statement and send images to that curator. I did get my images sent off to be printed for the MFA show (at least I think they're going in the show). Maybe tomorrow after my long soak in an epsom salts bath I'll work on tieing up those loose ends.

On another note, I was thinking this evening about when the artistic bug hit me.... Maybe it was that pig mobile I made for my mom made out of tag board one year or the slip cast hen planter or the clay pig.. maybe it was all those Halloween costumes I made over the years: the one night stand, the disco inferno, the caesar salad, the coat of arms (although I did steal that idea from Luke Esser, along with the green with envy idea too...). Yeah, maybe it was the halloween costumes...

17,742 steps

I walked to Target and back today... man, I'm tired... I'm in the process of recording my thoughts when I'm walking - I'm not sure how successful it's going to be and how it will fit into all of my work but I'm not worried.

I bought cleaning products at the dollar store and I cleaned my bathtub. ... this just in - Evangelical Christians are divided over global warming... Interesting.

The sun is out today... I should go back outside and get some more while it's still around. My hip is wacky though... it hurts to walk (then how am I going to run on Saturday?)... I guess I should just pump up the painkillers, I haven't had any in a few days.
