It's the most wonderful time...

Okay - the holidays officially start tomorrow... but I must note that I saw a whole lot of stuffing mix in the stores today.

I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do for Thanksgiving besides go to the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade.... I guess I should start investigating it... I might also go to a movie is I can afford it. That's always fun. One year I ended up making Thanksgiving pizza with my friend Deborah. Last year you might recall I did the Turkey trot in Chicago and froze my butt off. If I were there I'd do it again...

I am beginning to feel the effects of getting up so early. It's a good thing I can watch all my favorite shows online... in case I crash at seven...

The high point of my day besides going to the Today show was doing laundry. See I heart Ann for full details of my morning.

I have to start figuring out which images I want to have printed for the show in Miami. I also have to figure out how to finance it. Maybe I can auction off my kidney on ebay.

Problems...

I'm having problems uploading photos. I may have to do a double post on I heart Ann tomorrow. I took a lot of pictures today... mostly of the Backstreet boys I think. I couldn't even tell you all their names but I got some good pictures of them.

I was trying to think back if I had ever been that crazy about some group when I was growing up. I don't think so.... I was fond of Depeche Mode and Erasure.. even the B-52's but I don't think I would have ever screamed and yelled through a window at them... Rick Springfield maybe...

Tomorrow is my day to dress up... I bought some makeup at Duane Reade for 2 bucks. I hope I'm not allergic to it. It wouldn't be the first time...

Brrr....

It's 40 degrees outside and I'm not looking forward to bundling up to go outside. I don't have my wool coat yet. Luckily I have my under armour cold gear that I can wear (and my boots that are warm on the inside)..

I got word that I will be able to have a show in Chicago in September. That should give me enough time to get things in order (money, work etc...).

I did go to see Dan in Real Life yesterday - I liked it better than Wristcutters because it was straightforward. Not that wristcutters was bad mind you. But who doesn't like a romantic comedy?

There is a paycheck god...

I was checking out my bank accounts online this morning and realized that I have finally been paid for my ww meetings from this summer. My first inclination was to go out and buy something but then I thought better... I decided to actually subtract my student loan from my checkbook before it's due.

In other news I have been offered to have a show in Chicago next year. It's a small gallery in the Fine Arts Building... it's a small space but it would be a solo show. I think I'm going to do it. I just have to figure out what month I want to do it. I'm thinking I should wait until at least mid year so I can afford to fly out there twice.. or I could have it coincide with the MFA show so I can see all of my friends work... oh the decisions to make...

I was thinking that I could go see another movie today... Maybe I'll go see Dan in Real Life... it looks good. Not that I should be spending the money...

I want to go to New Jersey.

I have this desire to go to a Mall in New Jersey. I like shopping malls almost as much as grocery stores. They bring me comfort. My only problem right now is trying to figure out which mall to go to and how to get there.

Why New Jersey you ask? Because I've never been there and it seems like the place you would go to a mall.

If any of you out there know of any good malls let me know... it's raining today so I think it's a good idea if I can just figure out where to go and how to get there.

On another note, I went to see a movie yesterday - it was Wristcutter's a love story. I'm not quite sure weather I liked it or not. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best thing ever. But it was free so that's good.

Problem number one...

I got my haircut yesterday and it's a great cut - but I think I look a bit matronly again... I guess I'll get used to it - it's just a bit shorter in the front than I'm used to.... but what in the hell am I talking about? I used to have almost no hair so what's the big deal.

My eyebrows are beautiful...

Maybe I'll go back to Title This this afternoon (Mark Kostabi's show)... I could use a few more bucks.

I would just be in the audience - but it might be fun.

Let's not have a heart attack.

I am going to say something here that might shock you (at least those of you who know me pretty well). I read a book this week.

I know, I don't quite believe it myself. I picked up the book Mindless Eating someone had mentioned it in my ww meeting (they still haven't paid me for those three meetings...) and I thought I'd pick it up. It talks about how we mindlessly eat more than we should and some small steps to mindlessly eat less. The suggestions are based on research that has been done. I'm currently eating on smaller plates in addition to not snacking in front of the television... If I'm going to eat while I'm watching television I have to sit at the table and turn off the television. Pretty interesting read and relatively inexpensive.

Today I am going to get my hair done as well... I was noticing while I was watching the Russell Crowe interview that they did a shot from outside the studio and you can see a spot where I missed coloring my hair (I look like a skunk). I guess I'm going to have to do something about that.

I think I've been having weird dreams. I don't remember them right now but it had to do with exhibiting someones artwork in an extremely ironic (?) place. I know the place was the CMA (Univeristy of Washington) but I don't remember who or what was going to be displayed... Maybe it will come to me.

Well, I best be off.

A bit damp..

It rained this morning at the show and I haven't quite dried out yet. I did get to see Russell Crowe, Robert Plant, Allison Krause and Martha Stewart though so I think it was worth it.

I know I should finish I heart ann (or start it...) but a nap sounds really good too.

I am an efficient human being.

I have gotten my I heart Ann post done... I've .... okay that's about all I've done, but it feels like a lot to me.

For those of you who regularly read my blog you know how concerned I am about my personal appearance and my desire to smell good... well, I am happy to report that I have an appointment on Thursday for a haircut and brow wax. It's been a few months and things are getting hairy (literally...). I am on a budget so I am going to the Aveda Institute... I'm sure anything will be better than how things are now. Maybe I'll even post my picture once I get primped.

Post number 1000. It's all about my momma!

Today is my mom's birthday - she's 29. I think I've said it before but she is the best Mom in the world.

I got Ann Curry to sign her birthday card for her. That's about the only thing I can afford right now... but when I become rich and famous I will pay her back everything I've ever borrowed (or at least I'll try to).

My sign for today's show said happy birthday... I'll do a complete post later. Right now I need to go buy some drain cleaner - our bathtub is clogged and I think I need professional help.

If you see my mom today be sure to wish her a good one.

Jeff Koons Blue Diamond

I went on a very long walk today... I came across the blue diamond by Jeff Koons. It's going to be auctioned off by Christies... I took some photos of it.

















Then again I also came upon a dog costume contest and took these photos.

I don't have a lot of time to post, but I just wanted to say a bit about this wacky game show I went to yesterday afternoon. It was called Title This. It's a weekly show put on by Mark Kostabi. The basic gist is that he has three critics come up with titles for his paintings. He has the audience vote for them... and whoever comes up with the winning title gets 20 bucks. There is also a so-called advisory panel which offers suggestions and critical analysis of the painting to help the critics.. I was on the panel for the second taping and made 40 bucks for being positive (ie sucking up)...

at the end of the show they blow money out into the audience. I made 60 buck and now I can get that operation (or some new shoes)...

Last night...

I went to this opening and who should show up? Rhea Pearlman (Carla from Cheers)... it's a strange town New York is. I really liked the work of Lauren Baxter (and I'm not just saying that because she's a friend of a friend....) You can see her work Here.

Today I'm off to the show and then this afternoon I'm going to this game show type thing of this artist named Mark Kostabi. I'll update you later as to how it all goes.

Finally this afternoon/evening I am going to take a nap. I'm tired.

I've been awol...

I started posting something this morning but ran out of time. Tonight I'm going to an opening in Chelsea. I'm not sure how I should dress (I left all my fancy clothes in Seattle...). I suppose as long as I smell alright things will be fine.

I'd rather go to sleep. It's been a long week - and it's only going to get longer.

Hump day.

It's Wednesday and I am currently waiting in the studio for Mr. UPS to bring my winter clothes to me. It's actually warmed up a little bit so I don't think I'll need my long underwear until next week.

I hung out with Lenny - it was kind of cool... he's a very interesting guy. I also found out a bit more about the other regular guy. I even know his name now.

Well, I better start printing out my photos and hanging them on my "Stalker" wall.

I went for a walk this afternoon and within the time span of a half an hour I had seen an Actor walking down the street (some soap star - I swear) and then fifteen minutes later I saw a professional looking woman in a Lexus buying drugs....

Not that I know a lot about drugs but I've seen enough movies to know...

It makes me wonder what I'll see tomorrow...

I have finished my bio and it is whisking it's way over the computer networks to where it needs to be.

Next on the agenda is to go and buy more coffee for the morning. I'm down to my last scoop and I don't think I'd be in a good situation tomorrow morning if I didn't have my full quota of caffeine.

The weather has officially changed to fall and I have had to break out the long underwear (it's some of my favorite)... I have more on the way (with my boots and winter coat) but it hasn't arrived yet. It's being sent to the studio which means I will have to go down there this week.

I like the studio, but the one think I learned in grad school is that I need to have a television near me while I'm working. I don't necessarily need to be interested in what's going on - it just needs to be on... I just don't want to spend time "working" without one around.

Since I've been posting photos here are some I took on the walk home over the Brooklyn Bridge yesterday and at Astor Place...

On the agenda today is finishing my bio (I think I said I was going to do that yesterday but I didn't). I did get a good portion done but I'm just not feeling it. I am also going to have to break down and do laundry... maybe I'll take the laptop to the laundromat and work on the bio there. I also should go down to the studio and deliver some of my memorabilia I have gotten from the Show over the past week.

Yesterday I went for a walk down to Tompkins Square Park and watched the dogs in the dog run. It made me miss Stinky... I did see a few doxies while I was out (although none as cute as Stinky).

I need to post to I Heart Ann sometime soon as well, before I forget what happened on Friday.

It was pointed out to me by Karolina via email that the photos I posted last night have no nature in them. I will start with an excerpt from her email here...

i like your pictures of the sky scrapers and your statement on nature vs manmade. but, there is no nature in it. if there where trees in the reflection it would go with the statement better. in fact though, i like that there is a complete lack of nature and only man made reflecting man made with the dialogue of natural vs man made being applied to it. because the definition of natural is one that is near impossible to answer.

When I was making the statement I think I was talking in general terms... the clouds in relation to the buildings - the sky... oh hell, I don't know what I'm talking about...

This morning I am going to finish my artist bio. REALLY! I know I've been saying it all along - but I'm going to go out into the world and do it. I think there are too many distractions here in the apartment (ie television and internet - and television on the internet)...

I went to bed last night before 9:00. I was worn out... it's going to be brisk today - perfect for a walk after I get all my tasks done. So I better get moving.
