Ouch.

So, I'm sitting here on the couch with my foot elevated.  It feels better today but my heel still hurts.  I've been using the crutches we have to get around the house a bit quicker... it helps but is a bit cumbersome... hopefully it will feel good enough tomorrow that I won't have to use them.

you have to be aware that there's about three minutes there that I was in a porta potty to trying to get out and in of spandex... I had to wait so long at the start line I had to pee by the  time I got to the first set of porta potties.. that's alright... it's all part of the drill I suppose. 

Overall I have to say I think it was sorta fun.  I think it would have been more fun if I had been able to train a bit more... and my foot hadn't been hurting.  Will I do it again?  Maybe...  I am going to wait until my foot gets better though... I've signed up for the torchlight run but I might have to skip it if it doesn't work out... that's the end of next month...

The rest of my body is a bit stiff but it will be alright... I'm going to take it easy today and rest.  I have CPR training today so I will hobble down to the club to do that, but other than that I think that's it.. rest and ice, rest and ice and advil!

I slept in until 5:30 this morning! I actually woke up at 4:45 but decided I should go back to sleep. Things are heating up... I have to tie everything together...

I think I've come to the conclusion that If I have to I won't spend as much time at camp this summer as I would like to... Ideally I will get all my stuff done in a timely manner and I'll be able to relax a bit beforehand... but I'm not going to count on anything.

I think at some point I am going to have to start working on my statement about the show... it shouldn't be that hard.... (but you know me, I'll make it much harder than it needs to be...).

Last night I made the stinking Birthday cake, went to Joanne's Fabric and worked on things for the show...

I think I should get going because I slept in... I have a few things to work on before I get ready for the day.

Fat Atrophy of the Elbow.

Since I had my elbow juiced (shot full of cortisone) it has lost the fat stores in it. It is noticeably smaller and the bone sticks out. I just noticed it this weekend... the skin is dry too. Not a pretty picture.

I forgot to set my television to wake me up this morning so I am having a late start. I could have just stayed in bed and I would have been just fine.

Okay, I suppose I only have to work four days this week so I shouldn't complain... but I must admit I really like working in the studio and would rather spend my time there. I just need a benefactor.

Those darn Hamilton Family Feet...

This morning I took my momma to the Hospital to have her foot serviced. It turns out she has an extra bone in her foot and they are taking it out. (damn, I should have asked them to save it for my artwork... yeah, it's gross...)...

Stinky is up in her four arms because Grandma isn't here... I think she'll be alright. I can't stick around too much longer because I have to make sure she goes out before I leave.

Also, I've got information about being a member of the Secret Society of Crawl Space if you want the 411.

Let me tell you, it gets harder and harder to come up with titles for posts every day.

I am such a bad stalker... I didn't even know that Ann Curry was in town last weekend to interview the Dali Lama. I think I should have my stalking license revoked. I guess that just proves the point that I wasn't really a stalker - just an admirer from up close.

On a sad note, Ann's Father passed away over the weekend.

Okay, let's get off the bad news and onto the good.

First off, my lovely assistant Kristen and I got manicures and pedicures last night after work. I chose to go the natural route and just have my nails buffed. My toenails look a bit funny but that's just because I have the Hamilton family feet (and toenails). I'll slap some polish on them soon and take a photo for you. My fingernails are beautiful though, short, filed and buffed.

What else can I tell you all??? Less than a week until my birthday - start shopping now. You know I like shoes, manicures, pedicures, massages and beer. I am the perfect woman I think...

At work the new receptionist has been out sick the past two days.... hopefully she will be back today because I am falling behind on my filing... and you know how I love filing.

So... let's all think good vibes for the weather to change... for those of you not in Seattle it has been unusually cold this spring. I might as well have stayed in Chicago if I wanted this sort of weather.

I had a great idea for a show. I think it would be groovy for UW students who have studied in the Studio Art Program in Rome show their work at the Jacob Lawrence Gallery on campus. I just have to figure out who to pitch this idea to. I don't know how they come up with the programming for the gallery. I suppose I could just ask the gallery director.

I was going to go to first Thursday tonight but I didn't. Can I be an artist without schmoozing? I'm not sure, but I don't think so. There's always next month.

I was contacted by Law Dawgs (my temp agency) today. They are submitting my resume for a position as Paralegal Assistant. It seems right up my alley... copying, filing, sorting, creating trial notebooks... I hope I get it because I'd like to pay off my visa bill.

I'm watching the Big Idea with Donny Deutsch - I have a bunch of ideas... about art that is. If only I could make millions... or find a benefactor/boyfriend.

Fedex is watching me...

I checked into my stats counter and someone who works at Fedex checked out my blog. Now don't get me wrong, I have never had any major problems with Fedex before - it's just that twice in one day having things be f'd up is just not right.

I will probably use them again but when they lose a box of yours and don't even tell you? That sucks.

The family get together was nice yesterday. I got pictures of my cousin Tracy's feet. They are beautiful in their own deformed way... I'm not going to post a picture of them, you'll just have to wait until I have a show.

Tonight I am supposed to go out with my lovely assistant Kristen. I haven't seen her since I got back from New York. We are most likely going to see a movie and have dinner. I've been into movies lately - Juno still is my favorite....

In case I don't get back here today - everyone have a safe New Year's Eve and I hope you all get lucky as the clock strikes midnight.

I want to be alone...

So, I'm house sitting for my friend Nancy. She has this big house in Edmonds and has recently had her upstairs remodeled. It is beautiful! I did some cleaning yesterday when I got here because her entire household was sick over the holidays... It kept me busy which was nice. It would be nice to have a house someday - but in reality I don't think it's going to feasible because how much can one make as an artist/legal temp?

Onto other things. I've been having a hard time staying up in the evenings. Last night I think I made it until 8:30 before I fell asleep on the sofa. I woke up at 9:30 to go to bed and this morning I was up at 5:30. I guess there are worse things that could be going on. I just have to figure out how I can stay up until midnight on New Years Eve. I suppose I don't have to stay up until midnight but it would be fun.

Today we are having a family get together - hey, I could take pictures of Hamilton Family feet! I have to get more batteries for my camera. This is exciting!

Let's get serious now...

I have to start thinking about my career now.... I've been in vacation mode long enough... not that I've been hanging around doing nothing but I need to start looking for jobs in my chosen career path. That would mean Art and Teaching.

Let me see - what's going on... I have been looking at the College Art Association Website at their job listings. I don't really have the greatest amount of experience to teach.. but I suppose I can just start applying for things and who knows maybe someone will want to interview me for something.

I've been hesitant to talk about my immediate future but if I'm going to blog I have to talk about what I'm doing... I am going to New York in two weeks for a few months. I'm going to be living in my friend Maria's apartment while she is in Latin America. You may all remember her from my trip to New York in February when I got stuck there.


On my agenda for New York is "stalking" Ann Curry, getting on as many television shows as possible and running in races through Central Park. I may also do some grocery store field trips. I've started a new blog called I Heart Ann. I am going to post pictures of her as I strive to become one of her personal assistants and/or groupie.

I'm really not psycho - I'm just going to play one on tv.

I've sent a few emails to temp agencies in New York to inquire about work. Although I don't enjoy working for Lawyers that much - I'm glad I have these mad administrative skills to fall back on. It should enable me to pay some bills and buy supplies for my artistic endeavors.

Now for something completely different, my aunt Lois is coming today. My uncle died a few weeks ago and there is a Masonic service for him tomorrow. I would go but I have to work. Now, back to Auntie Lois - she's groovy. She lives in Oregon and has had many a career - Christmas tree grower, country store owner, quarter horse breeder(?) and bull seller.

She has Hamilton family feet as well... maybe if she gets a bit tipsy I can break out my flex wax and cast her foot. She wouldn't even consider taking pictures of her feet for me.... hmm - the wheels are turning.

I didn't go out last night - too long of a day to drive all the way to Tacoma.

Maybe I'll be good and go to the gym.

Good News...

I finally poured the casts of my feet today... it feels good to make things... I've been missing having a studio to work in.

On another note, I have an interview on Thursday for that temp job... it's working for a law firm as an office services clerk... artist/office services clerk.... sounds about as good as an artist/runner (oh, who am I kidding...).

I was perusing the law firm's website yesterday and saw that there are a few people who work there that I know. One of them is my former supervisor - she's now a paralegal. I could tell some stories about the old days - but then I'd have to kill you all and that would take far too much time.

Today was Ann Curry's 10th anniversary on the Today show. They did a swell retrospective of her time there... Elmo even made an appearance.

Maybe I should do a retrospective of my time in Grad School. That sounds like a good idea. Right?

Still waiting on the laptop. Maybe today.

My new yellow shoes hurt my feet. But don't they say No pain no gain??? I guess I'll just have to suffer in order to have cute feet.

four - oh!

Here are some photos from my birthday breakfast.

Overall I had a good day.... food, flowers, cake, walking, shopping at Target and phone calls and emails from all my friends. I was thinking the only thing that would make it better would be if I could have sex... but then I though that sex has the potential to be disappointing so I guessed it was the best day possible.

The only bad thing that happened was that I stubbed my second toe on my left foot... it's one of those extra long toes that just seem to get in the way. It's a bit sore but I don't think it's broken... It happened last summer as well, no blood (but there might be some under the toenail). I'll keep you updated as to my toe health.

I got really pretty flowers... I'll post pictures later.

Semi-Sweet Home Chicago.

I'm back in the windy city. My flight went well and I am happy to report the the four leftover bottles of Alaskan Amber I packed in my suitcase survived the trip. Before I got on the plane I decided to pick up some fish and chips at Anthony's Fish Bar. It was really good... it sure beats the five dollar sandwich they try to sell you on the plane.

One of the things I do like about Chicago is that I don't feel cold all the time. I think I could walk around in my bare feet and still feel toasty!
