The space has been cleaned out, the keys given back, and the sign taken down... it's all over.
The whole thing still sucks - but it couldn't go on with the current line up or motivation on some people's parts.
I am still a little annoyed with the Seattle art scene. It wants to be a big player in the art world but it will always be small potatoes if it doesn't open itself up to a wider audience and or a more varied artist lineup... it's the same thing over and over.... I have got to believe there is something more out there for the public to see.... and for the quirky artist to show...
Now I just have to do something about it... I've got my thinking cap on.
I think I'm done ranting right now.... Hey, that's the name of the blog though so I guess I will just go on and keep ranting...

We came, we saw, we conquered.

I have more photos but I don't have the time or patience to add them this morning. I have a bit of a headache this morning - but it was worth it. I'm not feeling too bad.
I think I'm supposed to go to brunch with my father but I haven't heard back from him yet.
I am cat sitting again... you know the cats - Sammy and Emma.. Sammy the one who spent the night in the tree...
I must say the food turned out really well last night... I took a few pictures with my phone and am trying to get them transferred to Crusty II...
here we go...

Doesn't it look yummy? The stuff in the front is garlicky bean spread - it was good. I think I'm going to make it again.
Okay, I think this is all I can manage this morning... headache go away please...

Crusty II is back!
I am here with Crusty on my lap. She has a new keyboard, bottom case and superdrive.
She sure is beautiful.
I have a few things going on today...
Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale.
Subbing Cycle.
Oh, and there's work.
I have found out that I am in charge of food for the last opening at Crawl Space. I volunteered so that's cool. I am going to head over to Trader Joe's tomorrow night to gather up some goodies for the festivities.
It's sad that the end is coming but it's good that we're closing on a good note. Sometimes I think the Seattle Art Scene really is fluffy. It seems like it want's to be hip but you have to be part of the "in crowd" to get your work shown. It's sad that Crawl Space is going away... I am too old to be a hipster.... it's aggravating. It's times like these I wish Seattle were more like Chicago... more apartment galleries, better opportunities to show your work... less snobbery.
I was rejected for a show I applied to... oh well, got to keep going. I need to get back in the studio and make more things... I've been asked to try and put visuals to some musical pieces my friend Brent gave to me. He's in the Orchestra Philharmonia and they have some videos on Youtube but they don't have any visuals. He asked me if I might like to try and add something. I think I'll get out my video camera (once I get it back from Matt - he borrowed it for the movie his son is making).
Here's a nice photo of the view from my desk at work...

actually it's a view from the conference room window which I sit just outside of.... but I do see this.

I think I'll get going... I should probably check out those art sites I haven't been looking at recently...
Oh, did I tell you that I tried to pay my visa bill by phone and they wanted to charge me 15 bucks to do so? That's just stupid... Bank of America - you should know better. You'd think you'd want to encourage people to go paperless.... right?
She sure is beautiful.

Closing our Gate.

CRAWL SPACE WILL BE CLOSING ITS GATE FOR GOOD...
After six years of curating and producing exhibitions, talks and special programs, the individual artists who run Crawl Space Gallery have decided to disband in order to pursue independent interests. Crawl Space will therefore cease to exist following our final and most ambitious show to date, Stranger Circumstances, opening on November 7th, 2009.
Thank you for your support. We hope you will join us for one last celebration on November 7th at 6pm.
This notice came out yesterday....
I haven't wanted to talk about it much until it was official. Yep, Crawl Space has decided to close its doors.... It's not something that I necessarily wanted, but it's better to close than let it die a slow death... I'm sure I'll talk more about it in the coming weeks. I'm going to miss having a place where I can show my art that doesn't quite fit in a mainstream gallery and I'm also going to miss my friends that I got to see on a regular basis.
On the other hand this get's me off my ass and makes me be more pro-active when it comes to showing my work.
I've been thinking that Crawl Space closing is like a marriage ending (sort of)... not everyone always wants it, but you do what's best for the whole.
This is what was best.

Better but not normal.

This morning I am feeling a bit better but not 100 percent.
I saw on the news last night that Drew Peterson was charged in the murder of his third wife. Good... I saw him when he was interviewed on the Today Show. He sucks... Maybe he'll get what he deserves.
The eggs up above are from an old piece I made in 2004. I am thinking about reworking a different older piece for my show in July...
I realize by spending time in a studio just how much I missed it all. If I could just get a flat screen television to go in there life would be complete!
On the agenda today - take some ibuprofen - get ready for work - work - boot camp (assuming my neck holds out) - shower - what not to wear - sleep.
This weekend I don't think I have too much on the agenda so I am going to spend a bunch of time in the studio... there's an opening at Crawl Space and then it's Mother's Day on Sunday... we're going to the Italian Spaghetti House... other than that it's work work work in the studio...
Okay, I better get going.

Mii the Wii
I took a few pictures of Mii this morning...
I think I look kind of cute!

This is my Wii workout wear. I like the yoga pants...

Here I am staring at my Momma... she's sleeping because she hasn't checked in with the Wii for almost a week.

On April Fools day the balance board told me it wasn't working... it's was playing a joke on me.
Okay, onto other things... It's been busy at work which is good... there was a bit of a dry spell there which I think was a combination of slow work, but also people not wanting to give me work for some stupid reasons.... there was an assumption that I was getting special treatment by certain people at work... I don't quite get it... I come, I do my job, I'm on time, I don't make too many mistakes and there's pretty much nothing I won't do if it needs to be done. I'm a good employee. People need to worry about bigger things other than weather or not I'm getting a bigger anniversary bouquet (they all cost the same amount... bigger, cheaper flowers means bigger bouquet).
Now if I was goofing off and not getting my work done - then they could complain.
Last night I went to first Thursday and got home in time to watch Survivor... I met Esther from Gallery4Culture... she's the curator and will be working with me on my show in July. I need to get working on things...
I'll try to post some pictures about the shows I saw... also there's a review of the Centennial in the Times today... you should read it.

MIi and the Wii...
This morning has been taken up with the wii fit. I got in 20 minutes that's why I can only do this short post. Today I have a lunch meeting at work and then I may try to make it to a pilates class at 5:30. Hopefully I will be out of work on time - I don't know why I wouldn't.
Tomorrow night we have an opening at the gallery. It's called Call and Response (it's our Centennial) and it was juried by Jeffry Mitchell. He's a swell guy... did I happen to mention that he gave me a personal critique of my Solo BFA show all those years ago? (okay, it was five years...it seems like a lifetime). You should all come... I might even see if I can get my mom to make cookies for the opening.
I am sitting at the gallery for part of the day on Sunday. I think that will be fun. Since we now have interns we don't have to sit. It's something that I miss a little bit...
I better hit the road.

Monday is my fun day.
In the immortal words of the Bangles today will be my fun day.
I checked the status of my new laptop and it's currently in China. Maybe I'll name it ping or wing or something like that...
Yesterday I ate far too many things that were less than good for me. I am at negative 15 points for the week. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to hit the gym. I only need two cycle classes to make up for the deficit.
I don't think this post will be too long this morning, I'm icing my elbow and it's hard to type and balance a bag of ice on your arm at the same time.
Today I have to get cracking on my schedule for training so it can be posted on the Crawl Space website... Oh, what have I gotten myself into.

The weird thing...
I think I've mentioned this before but it seems like everyone has been joining Facebook all of a sudden and now I am faced with photos of me from the 80's and 90's... YIKES.
Not that I'm too embarrassed because it is all a part of my history but still... it makes me take a deep breath every once in a while.
Take a look at this...

Aye aye aye...
I must have been tired or something... I still get that look on my face every once in a while...
Gotta love that femullet. That's also back in the day when the girls were bigger.... I must confess that I don't miss them one bit. I love the girls now and they love me.
Tonight we're installing the Current Works Show at Crawl Space. I feel a bit bad because my work is not necessarily current... maybe we should call it a recent works show... I have started working on new stuff finally... I'm starting to flesh it all out... I'm going to work on applying for Survivor. I've got my friends working on my audition tape and if I get on and win I won't have to worry about working for a living, I can just make art and be on other reality television shows such as Celebrity Rehab. Just to clarify I'm going to make the application process into art.
It's like the Ann project, I'll figure out the art later. I just need to do what I want to do and I want to be famous and be on television.
Okay, I guess I should wrap it up. If you hadn't guessed I'm feeling better today... it was a bit sketchy for a few days there...

owie...
I don't know which is worse... waking up with swollen gums or being single and childless for the rest of my life?
Right now the gums are more painful... I had a crown started on my tooth yesterday and the gum around my tooth is a bit inflamed... hopefully it will stop soon. I also had a flu shot yesterday so as Kelli says - I have John McCain arm... I can't raise it above my shoulder.
The hand is doing much better... I think I will survive...
Here are a few photos from the fundraiser... Maybe I won't look so bad when I'm old and gray... I just don't think I'll have a ponytail.

Come to the Ball!
I was told that I should blog more about the Grand Geomatrician's Ball so here it goes.
go to it! It will be fun, you'll help out young struggling artists (okay - I'm not that young but I'm "early career".) There will be good food and drinks and artwork - oh crap I have to decide on the artwork...
Regina Hackett posted on her blog here about the fundraiser.
Maybe there will be a cute single male art collector there who wants to sweep me off my feet and take me off into the sunset with my Ann Curry obsession. Maybe I'll dance so much that I'll lose four pounds. Maybe I'll sell something or be picked for the Whitney Biennial... Okay, I'm getting carried away here...
Maybe I'll just have a good time if I can stay awake.
I'm getting off work early so I can help set up. I have to stop by the gallery and pick up a bunch of stuff so it should make for a busy night...
I'll try to keep you all updated.

Ice fishing huts.
I had a dream this morning that I was driving behind a car that ended up stopping fast I accidentally ran into the ice fishing hut that was being towed behind it. I tried to be charming when we pulled over to talk about it... I just put a little dent in the ice fishing hut but the guy wanted 500 bucks for it. It was a dented piece of wood! I offered a check for 100 and 20 bucks cash. he was sticking to his guns - but then I woke up half way and realized that it was a dream and I didn't have to pay him anything.
I guess I won that battle didn't I?
Let me see.... do you want to be my booster? The booster I had lined up for the Fundraiser is out of commission for the next few weeks so I have to figure out how to raise $500.00 on my own.
I am happy to report that I am no longer crampy. I don't think I told you all that yesterday but I was crampy... it seems to have dissipated. Today I am going out to lunch and cycling my butt off tonight... the exciting life I lead.

Those darn Hamilton Family Feet...
This morning I took my momma to the Hospital to have her foot serviced. It turns out she has an extra bone in her foot and they are taking it out. (damn, I should have asked them to save it for my artwork... yeah, it's gross...)...
Stinky is up in her four arms because Grandma isn't here... I think she'll be alright. I can't stick around too much longer because I have to make sure she goes out before I leave.
Also, I've got information about being a member of the Secret Society of Crawl Space if you want the 411.
Word to your mother.

Settle down, here I am...
I know, you probably thought I was dead in the middle of the road somewhere, didn't you?
I am here.
Not much to report - with the exception that Mayor McArms wasn't at the gym this morning.
I am thinking about making work about being on a "documentary" television show that was never aired. What do you all think about that? What would this entail??? I don't know just yet... but I think we may find out.
Everyone save the date of November 22nd for the Crawl Space Fundraiser. It's going to be fun! Or at least I think so...
I've started looking at apartments... okay, pick yourselves up off the floor... I know - you thought I wanted to live with my mother forever didn't you? Well, I sort of do, but for the betterment of my social and artistic life I need to get out on my own. Now if only I could afford it. I think the plan is to start saving money so I have a cushion and then take my time to find a place that is perfect.
Maybe in the meantime I will sell some work and/or find a benefactor to help me out.
Soooo..... I guess that's it for now. I took pictures of Sammy and the tree so I will tell the story of my ordeal sometime this week.
Au revoir (or however you spell that...)
Ciao!

Tooter went awol!
So... I get to my sister's house last night and settle in. Usually Tooter is hiding under the bed... (she likes to be alone like her auntie). Finally it's time to go to bed (9:00p.m. because I lead a wild life) and I let Bailey outside to relax in the grass and who should I see??? Tooter! She saw me and as I tried to go near her she ran away. She was all covered in dirt so it appears that she got out earlier in the day when the neighbors let Bailey out for her afternoon constitutional. Let's just say that Auntie Bean (that's my nickname) did not sleep well last night thinking that she had sealed the nails on the coffin of her niece-cat. I left the back door open last night so she could come in (she didn't) and don't tell my sister I did that or she'll ream me (oh, I suppose she could read the blog and find this all out....).
Anyways... this morning I caught a glimpse of Tooter in the back yard and just decided to put her food out and act all nonchalant (like when I see that cute guy working out at the gym)... I started checking my email here on the computer by the back door (please don't use this information to rob my sister's house - she'd ream me again...) and Tooter's stomach appears to be bigger than her desire for adventure. She came slinking all cat-like through the door... I guess because she is a cat that she would slink cat-like...
Okay - that's my story.
Here is a review of the show at Crawl Space right now.... Maybe we'll get a lot of visitors there tomorrow while I'm sitting in 90 degree weather... maybe I'll have a barbecue while I'm there.
Now that Tooter is home safe and I don't have to be concerned about losing a limb to my sister's hand (she's really not as bad as I'm making her out to be - I love her)... I guess I should get ready for work. It's Friday and Payday! Woot woot!

the big squishy...
Okay, I realize that people of all ages read my blog and this may be a touchy subject but I am getting my first mammogram this week. I realize that some people may be uncomfortable with me talking about it but that's just too bad.
Here is a link telling about them.
I won't go into graphic details - but I won't shy away from anything....
Let's see! What else is happening this week??? oh yeah, I have to go back to work. And I have to start thinking about getting things together for my show in Chicago in September. Being at camp reminded of the things I love most - being a goof ball and creating things. And dancing spontaneously.... Oh yeah, while I'm thinking about it I would like to thank my friend Karen for sending me mail while I was at camp. I got more mail than any of the counselors! ha ha ha!
I guess I should wrap this up and get ready to face the world. I think I need to shave my legs so that may take a few extra minutes.... blog to you later.
oh wait! We have an opening at Crawl Space on Saturday ... it's Michael Bray - he's from Eugene! Come and see him 6 - 9pm.

More muscles I forgot I had...
Saturday I did the body sculpting class and then cycling. I'm not sure if I was working harder than normal or if I'm just a wimp, but my body is still sore... this time it's the backside and the shoulders. Thank goodness I had that massage scheduled so I don't think I'm suffering as much as I could be.
I wouldn't really call it suffering though... I intentionally put myself through it.
Have I told you all that when I'm in the middle of my cycling class and don't think I can take any more I pretend that I am a contestant on Survivor and I am in an endurance challenge. I try to hold out the longest so I can take home the cash prize. In this case there is no prize (except a firmer leg and thigh area). It seems to give me the extra push I need. I also think about other areas that will benefit from this activity but I can't talk about them here... because of my younger readers.
Yesterday I spent quite a bit of time at Northgate, I didn't really do any serious retail therapy, but I did run into my friend Bill and we did some Mall Walking (yes - I am what you would call a mall walker)... I don't do it as much as I used to but I still do it. It was hard dodging all those people filing in and out of See's Candy. Hmmmm. Candy.
On this weeks agenda is an opening at Crawl Space on Saturday and training for the Beat the Bridge run on Sunday. I'll have to find my fancy new microphone to record myself when I'm running. I may also have to get a new outfit to run in... I have to look cute because if I get caught behind the bridge, I might run into my future husband while I'm waiting for the bridge to go back down.
I should probably get going now... I had dreams last night that I had my own apartment... maybe that's a premonition. I'm sure my mother would like to push me out of this nest...

Firm thighs are on their way!
Yesterday I received for my birthday, one pair of Fitflops. They are flip flops that have an unstable midsole that make your thigh and glute muscles activate longer. Therefore you get a more toned lower half. Yay!
Brunch went well - I had a good time with my friends and family. Afterwards I went to the gym and worked off that ham rumble and hashbrowns...
Last night was the opening of Tony's show at Crawl Space. It's good so you should all check it out.
Today I am going to walk around the house in my fit flops for a while and then this evening I am going to get my birthday hamburger from Red Robin with Matt and Miriam... I like getting free stuff on my birthday (okay it's not my birthday until Tuesday....).
At some point I also have to start thinking about what I'm going to take to Chicago with me.
I'll catch up with you all later.

Closure...
Or should I say openage... I got the bag open that contained my undergarments... I know you are all breathing easier this morning.
So - we're back to the work week, back to over-extending myself. Back to trying to pretend that I really enjoy filing (I do! I do!)... Today is payday, opening day for the Mariners... (it's been a while since I've been around for an opening day...) it's also the last day of March. You know what that means??? Tomorrow if the first day of my birthday month! Start planning now.
Here are a few photos I took of Tim Brown's show on Saturday. I had to do something to keep myself awake so I took pictures.

I should really start looking for some studio space and/or a place to live where I can work... I've been slacking too long (okay - I realized slacking is not a good word here because even when I'm not really making things I'm still thinking about things). I just have to get a move on. I have a show in Chicago in September and I should probably start trying to figure out what I'm doing for it.
I think when I'm in Chicago in a few week's I'll go take pictures of the space and start planning my show. It will be nice to be in Chicago for a while - I'm looking forward to seeing all my friends and looking at art. Art Chicago is going to be going on so I am going to try to check it out while I'm there.
I guess that's it for this morning... It would be nice if I could go back to bed... One twelve hour night of sleep does not make up for six weeks of running oneself ragged.
