Finally Friday

Okay it's official - I'm tired of working...  Don't get me wrong - I do like my job, but it sucks the life out of me sometimes...  why can't I just be independently wealthy?

That would make life so much easier...

My boxes arrived from Vermont yesterday so I can get back to screen printing this weekend.  I have to make some money so I can pay the rent.  I got a little more money that I was expecting in my paycheck this morning, but it's not enough to pay the rent... hmmmm.... what to do?  Maybe I have some money stashed somewhere... I do that sometimes...  I may have a bunch of pennies squirreled away somewhere...  it's sad.

Today I will be the only staff person in the office.  Hopefully it won't be too challenging.  Hopefully I will get a lunch...  hopefully I won't kill anyone.

Here's a t-shirt for you to ponder...

Maybe I'll wear it to work today.....

the grasp tightens

I got another Doctor bill last night... this one is for $1200 bucks... good thing I have insurance... but still - what do I do?  Pay rent?  Pay the bill?  Feed myself?

My boxes will arrive today from Vermont, so I can start making t-shirts again...  I just don't know what to do...  I will manage, but I'm beginning to feel like I did in the old days when I had too much debt.  I got out of it once before, I can do it again!

It just sucks...

I slept through the night last night without being woken up by Mr. Clunky...

This working for a living is going to get the best of me.... argh...

Let's go back to a better time... brunch at the Vermont Studio Center...

Laggy

I experienced the jet lag big time last night.  If I could have gone to bed when I got home at 6pm I would have...

I am trying to adjust to the real world but it's hard...  I just want to sleep and make art (and take walks along the beach and skip through flowers)...  I came to the horrific realization that I only have one cups worth of coffee this morning...  aye aye aye... I guess I'll have to scrape together some spare change and buy some beans today.

What do I know?

I know that I could use a vacation please..

Catching up on Television!

The only positive thing about being on East Coast time is that I get to catch up on some television shows I missed while I was gone...

Right now I'm watching Parks and Recreation.  I caught up on all the previous seasons while I was in Vermont.

Let me see... I made it through my first full day of work.  It wasn't too bad.  I also managed to teach yesterday and I didn't die...  I actually taught the last half of the 5pm class... I'm a bit sore today...

One of the things I have to do this week is get my teaching application in for a position at Mills College.  I also need to figure out the whole t-shirt thing...  too much to do, too little time...

What else do I need to do...

grocery shopping - that's it...

The one where Mr. Clunky wakes you up at 3am

ICA Boston

Lobster Roll

These are photos I took yesterday - before I returned to the real world and Mr. Clunky waking me up at 3am... at least he was just talking and not doing something else.

I managed to get home by 10:30 and my apartment appears to be in good shape (they fixed the doorknob while I was gone)... I have a few dead plants and some bills, but in general it is fairly clean and no fires to put out.

I had a good night's sleep (minus the wakeup at 3am) and think I might be able to make it through the day.  Now if I can just walk comfortably to work and make it through that and my first cycle class things will be golden.

I forgot to mention that my toilet isn't working... luckily I know how to flush it by pouring water into the bowl... I think a month of inactivity has left it a bit sedimental (ha ha - okay that isn't really funny, but to me right now it is...).

I think that is all I have to tell you right now.... I have some coffee to drink and then I have to figure out which clothes I'm going to squeeze my legs into.

Let's see if I make it!

Ready for the last leg.

I am coming to you semi-live from the Airport Hilton Lobby...  I am hanging out here for a bit before I hop on the shuttle which will take me to the terminal and my last leg home.

This morning I went to the ICA  to look at what they had up... over half the museum was being installed so I have a ticket to go back free of charge next month... too bad I don't live here.

There was a great piece by Doris Salcedo called Atrabilizrios, here's a photo of a similar piece I found online... I like it a lot...

I've decided that I really do like art a lot and think I should be making more of it...

I feel good (warm and fuzzy)... I'm not going to even worry about not being able to afford bananas when I get home... I will survive!

What else... I walked along the waterfront after the ICA and bought my very first (and probably last) lobster roll... it was pretty good, and PRETTY STINKING EXPENSIVE!!!

But is was tasty...

Here are my next goals in life...

get home

do laundry

get a date (number 4 for the year)

make more t-shirts...

armpits waxed...

- did you happen to notice that I didn't mention television at all? (what is happening to me???)....

Okay, I think that's it for now... maybe I'll update you once I get to the airport (or on the plane if they have free wifi like they did on the way to Newark earlier this year...

xoxoxo

I love you all.

I am not dead.

I am not dead, but I am just a bit busy...  I am coming to you live from the Logan Airport Hilton in Boston.  In the past 36 hours I have been in three different states - Vermont, Boston, and Connecticut.  I have been on a bus, in a car and on a train... I have also been in a bus bathroom that didn't have a working toilet...

I was surely hoping for a stadium pal... it did not come.

I am up way past my bed time and was supposed to meet my friend for brunch tomorrow but has not contacted me so I guess I'm on my own in Boston for a few hours...

I saw a butter sculpture today (and the guy sculpting it)...  pretty exciting.

I think it's going to be a while before I process all that I've been through for the last month.  Being gone solidified my desire to make things and be creative.  For once I didn't feel like a weirdo which was nice.

I feel my eyelids getting heavy so I better go to bed...  I do like the Hilton beds and HD Television.... sweet dreams my friends.

Less than perfect today...

I feel like crap - that's why I'm going to post on the regular blog today...  I have a headache and I'm feeling a bit in the dumps.  Headache, dissatisfied with life, ornery...

I may just end up lying on the sofa after dinner (in the lounge) and taking a nap.

I only have 10 days left... maybe I should make some more significant work... maybe I should just go curl up in a ball and cry.

A brief respite

I have found the big screen television in the residents lounge so I am currently watching the Today Show.

Speaking as a non resident for a moment (do I have a multiple personality??)... maybe....

In speaking I actually mean typing.

I am going to complain for a moment...  I'm just going to complain about myself...  I keep eating and eating and eating...  they have desserts every evening and I can't say no.  Actually I could say no, I have just chosen not to.... let's list off what I have had so far...

Brownies that are like fudge, maple walnut pie, cheesecake, some gooey butterscotch cookie concoction, and a reeses peanut butter cup like cookie bar.

I am going to get fat.

Today I will go hunker down in my studio and watch last night's episode of Big Brother online and then make some work...

I'll post later on Jenerator in Residence.

The lowdown...

My flights are a go - the flooding isn't as bad where I'm going...

A friend of mine from grad school lives where I'm going.

I got to check up to three bags for free on my flight...  (I chose to check two...)

Today I am going to go to the gym, then do laundry, and then finish up my packing and check on things at my apartment one last time...

Yay - I'm actually going to get there!

Late start.

Hi - here I am...

I spent the night at mamma's house and am here now... good news that Irene didn't cause more havoc than necessary...

I didn't say anything until now but I think that there is a connection between me flying places to make art and Hurricanes.   I remember sitting in Seatac Airport in August of 2005 as Hurricane Katrina was making it's way to Louisiana...  I was on my way to Chicago to Start grad school...

I remember arriving in Chicago and having no real idea of what was going on because I didn't own a television (gasp) and I didn't spend a lot of time listening to the radio.  I guess I was sort of buffered by it all.  Which is good I guess.

Now, I'm making my way to Vermont to make art and Irene is having has had her way with the East Coast....  I think I'm a hurricane jinx.

So.... what else do I know?  I found out this morning that one of my friends from Grad School lives in the town where I'm going!  How exciting is that?

Yesterday I canceled all the flights I don't need to take and I heard from the Vermont Studio Center saying that they would arrange for a shuttle to pick all of us up who were messed up by the storm.

I have a feeling everything will work out...  I even taught class this morning to help defray the cost of my new airplane ticket.

Today on the agenda I have a shower, laundry, and maybe the refinement of my packing...

then again I may just lay out and work on my tan...

Vermont will have to wait...

I have sorted everything out...

I got all my flights canceled (the ones that I needed to)...

I got a refund for my Delta flights that were canceled - so now I only have to pay $500.00 to get to Burlington  when it was just supposed to be 138.00.... ah.

That's why God invented credit cards...

I skipped weight watchers this morning...

I taught my class...

I'm teaching my class tomorrow because I need the cash...

I am going to dinner with my momma and I'm going to spend the night with my doggies...

I am ready to get this all over with.

I have to admit that I suppose this could have been a lot worse than it was.

It's a little aggravating, but at least I got to sleep in my own bed last night.

The only thing I hope for is that I get some of my frequent flier back and get a refund on the fee I paid to check my bag onto a flight that I didn't take...  Dear Alaska Airlines - please come through... even if you don't I still love you!

I got an email from the Vermont Studio Center saying that other residents were arriving the same day as I was (Tuesday morning)... so I will have a ride from the airport...

yeehaw - this is going to make for some very good art.

A change in plans...

So.  My flights from Boston to New York and New York to Burlington were canceled...

Tried to rebook my Alaska Flight from Seattle to Boston but couldn't get anything out until Friday (it was an award ticket)..  so....

I am leaving Monday night - on Delta - First Class to Detroit and then Burlington... bypassing the hurricane zone.

Who needs money anyway right?

I am exhausted and I think I am going to hit the hay pretty soon...  I'll give you a better update tomorrow...  on a bright note I am going to teach tomorrow so I will get more money.  woot woot.

I would rather be home where it's going to be 80 degrees instead of hanging out in some airport. So I will wait until Tuesday to get to Vermont.

I have to give credit to the service agents though... the woman at Delta was very nice...

My only complaint with Alaska Airlines is that since my ticket was an award flight it was a lot harder to reschedule.... Alaska I love you but you cost me an extra $600 bucks!

One last time.

I am coming to you from my bedroom this morning.

I have a house guest and I have already bothered her once by getting up and making coffee...  It's just not the same coming to you from my bed...  Although it's a bit comfy it's a little awkward.

I've been checking on the status of hurricane Irene... I should get into Vermont before the storm..  I'm just a little bit worried... not too much.  I'm more worried about weather or not I need to check in for my Burlington flight online, and if so do I tell them I have a bag?  I think I'll wait until tonight and talk to the agent at Alaska...  I'm sure it will all work out.  What's another 20 bucks right?

Yesterday I walked to work and I survived - I walked half way home and then hopped a bus.  I had to get back to do laundry.

I am ready I think... at least sort of ready...

I found out yesterday that one of the attorney's I work with is leaving... his last day will be while I'm gone.  I'm a bit sad about it but I will survive...

What else....  I'm watching King 5 morning news live (streaming) while I hang out in my bedroom...

This is what I look like this morning...

Stunning I know...  That glow on my face is the glow from Crusty II...  It highlights the bags under my eyes...

I probably won't check in with you all until I get to Burlington tomorrow night...  Unless I don't get to Burlington - then I'll check in with you from somewhere else...  Don't worry I'll be back.

Bon Voyage!

Um.

I forgot to get someone to sub my class on Saturday... I hope I (we) can find someone to cover...  I figured things were too good to be true...

I think everything may come together.  Tonight a friend of mine is coming over - she's staying at my place until Monday while she attends a workshop at Pratt.  I told her I would be packing and doing laundry tonight but she seemed alright with that.

The apartment is pretty clean so I'm not too worried about her thinking I'm a slob.

Let me see....  the knee is feeling better.  I've been intentional about getting it stretched out and trying to straighten it a bit more...  I will get there.  My heel is still sore, but I think it's getting better.

I am mentally ready to leave...  I've packed my assortment of medication (ibuprofen, tylenol PM, glucosamine, gas pills, and Vitamin D)....  I've got tissue too...   I am trying not to over pack clothes wise.  I want to be comfortable and maybe a bit cute...  I just don't know.

Here is a random smattering of photos from my old cell phone...

Maybe I'll go work on my packing...  I wish I could do laundry now but the laundry room is closed... boo...

what

I woke up a few times last night thinking that I should just get up and pack some more.

I went to the knee doctor yesterday - he said I should torture myself a little bit more and try to get my leg a little straighter...  he said overall it's looking pretty good though.

My chiropractor said I looked a heck of a lot better than I had for a long time.  That's good.

Today I am going to ship off a box of supplies for myself... I'm trying to decide if I should take my Hello Kitty robe and bear with me... there's also the big decision as to whether I should send my buckwheat pillow...   I do like to have my pillow with me... oh the decisions.  I also have no idea what I need to take clothing wise... argh...

I'm going to be a nut case before too long.

Glarg...  I am not ready... okay, I'm ready, but I'm not...

No coffee and Heel Pain

Is there a worse combination?  I don't think so... luckily I've got Dr. Appointments this morning and money on my Starbucks card - so I guess I'll be stopping by there first to get my fix.

I am feeling the pinch of no money... it kind of sucks.

Today I've got appointments with the chiropractor and the knee doctor... I'm thinking maybe if my foot doesn't feel better I'll go into the walk in clinic tonight... maybe - but that would just cost me money which I don't have... grrr...

Maybe I'm just cranky because of the lack of caffeine.

Wake up

I'm a bit loopy this morning...  I took a tylenol pm last night because I overdid it a bit yesterday with my knee.  It feels alright this morning though...  Maybe I'll take some of those drugs when I fly out on Friday night...  may help me sleep.

We are down to the final push... my horoscope says something about focusing on finances today.  Maybe I will win the lottery.... maybe I'll sell some artwork....   maybe I'll get a raise??  okay, I doubt that will happen but you never know.

Yesterday I got a few things done...  packed a little bit and cleaned a little bit.  I'm pretty sure I'll be scrambling to get everything done on Thursday night...  I washed my car too...  It's just going to get dirty again.

I keep seeing Mr. Clunky now that I know what he looks like...  yesterday he was in the courtyard outside my living room window... he was with the girl who sounds like she doesn't have that great of a time...  poor clunky.

I think that's all I have to tell you this morning...  one week from now I'll be in Vermont!  okay less than a week, but you know what I mean...

Got to get some work done today!

This is my last full free day before I leave.  I have got to get a move on.

I did laundry at my momma's house yesterday (sheets and such...) but I totally forgot to take my pillowcases.  I must have a case of the busy mind.

This morning I got up bright and early and did a bit of packing... I am trying to get away with only taking one bag with a carry on full of electronic gear...  It's not going to be easy.

What does one wear to an artist residency?  I am thinking I may just wear pajamas the entire time...  do I take my Hello Kitty bathrobe?  Do I take my french press to make coffee in my studio?  Do I take my workout wear?? (I think the answer to that one is yes - because there is a yoga studio and a gym nearby)...

People keep asking me if I'm excited.  I haven't really thought about it much.  I am a bit excited.  I think once I get there it will sink in.

I think I'm more worried about getting there and not breaking the bank while I am there.  I am bound to be destitute when I'm back...

Did I happen to mention that I saw Mr. Clunky up close and personal... then I saw him again on my way home from work on Friday...  This is what he looks like...

Mr. Clunky walking down the street... he may be little but he's loud!
Do you like my stalker shadow?  I find it rather charming...

Okay - I think that's all I have for you this morning...  I think I've done rather well.  I am thinking that maybe I may be getting back to my old entertaining self.  Just maybe.....
