Closure...

Or should I say openage... I got the bag open that contained my undergarments... I know you are all breathing easier this morning.

So - we're back to the work week, back to over-extending myself. Back to trying to pretend that I really enjoy filing (I do! I do!)... Today is payday, opening day for the Mariners... (it's been a while since I've been around for an opening day...) it's also the last day of March. You know what that means??? Tomorrow if the first day of my birthday month! Start planning now.

Here are a few photos I took of Tim Brown's show on Saturday. I had to do something to keep myself awake so I took pictures.

I should really start looking for some studio space and/or a place to live where I can work... I've been slacking too long (okay - I realized slacking is not a good word here because even when I'm not really making things I'm still thinking about things). I just have to get a move on. I have a show in Chicago in September and I should probably start trying to figure out what I'm doing for it.

I think when I'm in Chicago in a few week's I'll go take pictures of the space and start planning my show. It will be nice to be in Chicago for a while - I'm looking forward to seeing all my friends and looking at art. Art Chicago is going to be going on so I am going to try to check it out while I'm there.

I guess that's it for this morning... It would be nice if I could go back to bed... One twelve hour night of sleep does not make up for six weeks of running oneself ragged.

My bras are stuck in a bag...

I did laundry today and put my bras in a bag so they could go in the washer. The zipper is broken on it and now I can't get it open. The bag doesn't belong to me so I can't cut it open.... I guess I'll just have to go bra-less.

No, I won't subject anyone to that... I'll just keep trying to get it open with the pliers and my pure will.

Help.

The results are in...

I managed to make it through the day yesterday - the only casualty was my watch. It fell off someplace and it's gone. Oh well, I guess it was time for a new watch.

I slept about 12 hours last night - I slept until my body couldn't take it anymore... until the point where it hurts to be horizontal.

I'm thinking yesterday I just needed to catch up on the sleep and take care of the cold. The beer from the night before was just secondary... I still feel sub-par. I'll just have to lay low today - only do the necessary things. Feed cats, buy coffee and take drugs for my cold.

Okay, I feel like crap. I better go.

Hijinks on the high seas...

I don't know if I spelled hijinks right but we'll just assume that it's right.

Here are photos from last night.

This is my lovely assistant Kristen and myself. (Please excuse the hair... I'm still adjusting to my new styling regimen).

It was too stinking cold to stay outside so we just went out for a few beauty shots.

Hey, Look! It's my Alaskan Amber enjoying the Seattle skyline!

This is Kristen's friend Lori - with Mr. Riemer....

This morning I am under the influence of a few things... a little too much beer, a lack of sleep and a cold which I believe which is finally here...

I am siting at the gallery today so come on by if you get a chance. You can wake me up from my nap.

I was once a supermodel.

No I wasn't... but it caught your attention didn't it?

Tonight my lovely assistant Kristen and I have decided to go on the :20 Funny Cruise put on by a local radio station KMTT (it's similar in style to WXRT in Chicago)... I hope I don't get seasick.

Last night I went to bed fairly early - it's just been too busy and I still have this sore throat. My mother is sick and there are other people at work who are sick as well. I can't really afford to become one of them. I enjoy sleeping. Too bad I can't take naps at work.

Tomorrow I will let you know how the cruise goes. I'm sitting at Crawl Space so come on by and say hi.

Today at work is our receptionists last day. She's been there forever - okay, not forever - but a long time. We're having a going away lunch for her and I helped pick out the cake. I love cake!

Have a great day everyone.

What?

I'm feeling the bridge mix this morning... and the results of not going to the gym. Once again I am running along side the wagon (I have fallen off - but I'm not out of the race)...

Have I told you all about the singles websites that I sign up for but never answer any messages I get? Yeah, I've got a problem...

Today will be different! It's Kristen's birthday and we're going to lunch!

I've got nothing to rant about this morning.... I better just quit while I'm ahead (or is it behind?)....

Could I shove anything else in my mouth?

I've had a problem with controlling my food intake the past few days. I know I'm eating for reasons other than being hungry. I think I might just be really tired and not making the wisest choices. As always, I know what to do, I just have to do it.

Tonight for dinner I've had bridge mix and pistachio's... that's it. I think I need more fiber.... or more something... Sometimes I think if I could just make myself hurl that would be great! (okay, not great because that's just icky)...

I'm watching Oprah - it's a show on hoarders... I guess my life would be more challenging...

It's something to think about.

I think I'm awake.

This morning I am heading to work early to help set up for a construction law seminar. I have my new cute haircut and I think I'm awake.

Now to the haircut. I went to see my ex-boss Nancy (Yes, I used to work at a hair salon). I must say it's nice to have someone cut your hair that you completely trust. I just let her do what she thought was best. I'm going back next week to get some highlights put in. Before you know it I'm going to be one hot momma!

I can't say much more because I have to get a move on and see if I can style my hair.

Almost sick...

I've got this funny feeling in my throat. Not quite a tickle, not quite a frog....
I wish I would just either get sick or get better.

Today I am finally going to remedy my haircut dilemma. No more channeling David Cassidy for me!

I was thinking that this week was going to be a bit slower but I don't think it will be. I have lunch plans every day except tomorrow - Thursday is my lovely assistant Kristen's birthday! We are going to go to lunch... Friday is a going away lunch for the receptionist at our office. I'm all for free food.

I like housesitting but it is inconvenient in getting to the gym. I suppose I could go after work but who has the energy? I sure don't.

Where has the time gone? I have to get moving or I'm going to be late.

Ready, Set, Go!

Well, another Monday is here to greet us with open arms... and kick us in the ass if we don't settle down.

I'm sitting here in the house where I am house sitting, I've got my french press next to me - I'm just waiting to plunge it. I feel the beginnings of some weirdness in the back of my throat, it's a little tender. I'm trying to determine what time I need to actually leave the house here to trek up the hill to get to the bus. I sure hope I don't screw up and make it to work late... It sure would be nice to just sleep a while... I don't think my week is as full as the last one was - that will be nice. I do have to work on a grant application for Crawl Space and get my hair cut (yay).

This afternoon I am having lunch with Lillian. She's a freshman at Western and I've known here since she was a very little person. It makes me feel old seeing all these ex little people become adults.

Okay, as always I should get a move on... shake a leg Peg...make like a tree and leave.. You get the idea.

The perfect studio...

The perfect studio in my opinion would have the following.

a television

wireless internet

a big comfy chair

and a massage therapist

Okay, I suppose I don't really need the massage therapist but it would be nice.

Hoppy Easter!

Ha Ha Ha! I am sooooo funny. Okay, maybe not.

If you are one of my dedicated readers (all six of you)... you will know that today I will go to church and I will sing my favorite hymn "Christ the Lord is Risen Today". I think I posted link to it a few years back so if you want to dig through my old posts you can hear it. Last year I went to see Blades of Glory and then had an exciting dinner from the hot food bar at Whole Foods. This year the whole family's coming over to our house.

The opening last night was good... I didn't hurt myself too much in cycling class and I am starting a house sitting gig tonight. It should be fun. I should be able to come to you all in living wifi... I've got to get around to getting a faster connection here at home.

Uhhh... that's about it, I have to work on a grant application now.

It's the same wherever you go.

I have come to realize (not just recently) that there are those certain office "types" in all offices. The brown-noser, the tattletale, the victim and the numskull. There are more types out there... I think I'm a cross between a brown-noser and a "good girl" - if only they knew... It's surprising how some people get so worked up about things in the office... they just need to chill out. I've come to realize that it is not my life and I can pretty much leave it at work. It's fun to watch how all the roles play themselves out.

I ended up going out for drinks after work with a few of my co-workers.... we went to Ruth Chris Steak House. It's hard to be a beer girl in a martini world...

When I got home I was a vegetable until 8:30 and then I went to bed. What an exciting life I lead.

Today I'm going to torture myself with cycling and grant writing. How fun is that?

A change of plans...

It's been a busy week and I'm glad it's Friday. I was going to go to Tulalip Casino tonight and see the Beatnik's but my plans have changed so I have a free evening. What should I do? I suppose I could try to lie low and get rid of this cold that is trying to catch up with me.

Nahhhhh. I'll figure out something to do.

I was a little cranky yesterday... I had someone (in my opinion) question my work ethic. Or at least that's how it felt. I realize this person does not know me that well enough yet and the track record of other people in my job has not been great so I will cut them some slack. People just need to relax and chill out a bit. I've been working in law firms for almost 20 years so I think I know what I'm doing. I know I'm doing a good job and I am appreciated by people so there.

I helped Tim work on his show last night. I think It's going to be good... It got a star next to it in the Stranger so you all should come out and see it.

On the horizon I have cycling class tomorrow, my hair will be cut on Tuesday (say goodbye to David Cassidy) and I have a lunch date with my friend Bryan. Oh, there's also a construction law seminar at work... I get to help set up and there might be cute construction workers there! Hot-cha! Things are looking up!

Welcome to hurtsville.

I am having one of those weeks. Monday during the St. Patrick's Day party at work I accidentally ran into the corner of the conference room table at work (no I was not drunk - yet)... now I have a big bruise on my leg. Yesterday I dropped a file holder thing on my foot - it broke the skin through the sock I was wearing and now it hurts like a you know what. Not enough to make me limp, but I may try to get a bit of sympathy from people.

Last night I actually did nothing which was nice. Okay, I take that back I did laundry.

I finally found the cable for my camera so here's a good shot of Stinky.

She is very cute don't you think? I think she could be a dog model.

On my agenda today is work and then helping Tim install his show. I think I might start researching new races to run in as well - my new microphone should be coming on Monday. Yay.

Have a good day and try not to let anything fall on you!

Wednesday, March 19, 2008

Umm... it's Wednesday.

I'm beginning to feel the effects of my busy schedule... I'm tired and I have cramps. What better combo is there?

Dinner last night was good - scampi at Palomino. I am exuding garlic today... I took a photo of Michael (TCBFC) to post but I can't find my card reader for my laptop so I guess it will have to wait until I do a little cleaning around the house.

Today I don't have anything planned outside of work which is a good thing. Tomorrow night I am helping with the install of Tim's show at Crawl Space and then Friday I am going to Tulalip to see the Beatnik's and celebrate my friend Nancy's 40th Birthday.

I might just collapse on Saturday - that is after my cycling class and the opening... I suppose being busy is sometimes better than doing nothing at all. I said when I moved back to Seattle I wanted to get out more and that is exactly what I'm doing. I shouldn't really complain.

The countdown to my birthday will be starting soon... Last year I said I was going to run in a marathon by the time I turned 41... I was just kidding. Maybe I'll walk a half marathon but that's about all I think I could do right now. Hmmm... maybe I'll see if there are any races going on in Chicago while I'm visiting...

I better get moving. Over and out.

Is it Friday?

I was looking forward to the work week so things might slow down but I don't think they are going to. My friend Michael is in town for a Toxicology conference (doesn't that sound like fun?)... you might recall that Michael is my friend who I used to have a big crush on and made artwork about... we're cool now so I can talk about it freely. If you go back to the early days of my blog you can see my tribute to him.

I was a dork, but it was heartfelt and funny so there you go.

We're having dinner tonight... it should be fun. He stopped by the office yesterday and I couldn't stop jumping up and down... maybe it was the Guinness controlling my actions.

I'm running out of time now so I best get a move on.

Have you ever???

Have you ever felt like your thighs had been clamped tightly in vices for ten hours and than released to their former free-flowing selves only to find you can't walk? Okay, I can walk but it is still a bit painful.

I guess that's the price we pay in the quest for firm glutes and thighs.

I'm at Nancy's right now, I should be working swiftly in order to get ready for work and pack things so I can be out of here this morning and make it to work on time.

Oh yeah, happy St. Patrick's Day. I bet you the party is already started in Chicago.

Holy crap my backside hurts...

A sucker for a skating movie...

So... I'm sitting here watching the Family Chanel right now. I'm watching the Family Chanel original movie The Cutting Edge 3. If you've ever perused my profile you might have noticed that one of my favorite movies is the Cutting Edge (the original with DB Sweeney and Moira Kelly). I just couldn't resist it. Same story with different actors and reversed roles... but that's alright. Everyone needs a little schmaltz once in a while.

It's not nearly as embarrassing as admitting that I'm a fan of Celine Dion.

I don't think I'm ready for this.

I'm awake, I've got the coffee ready to go, I've got the outfit picked out... but it's too stinking cold to be running.

I suppose I did run in Chicago when it was less than thirty degrees out, but that was different. It wasn't damp. (would I like some cheese to go with that wine?)

I suppose you could call it suffering for my art... once I start running I will warm up... it's thinking about the time in between dropping stuff at the gear check and the start of the race I fear.

Last night I ordered some good binaural microphones. You might be wondering what those are... I was wondering too... they are microphones that go into your ears and they do an amazing job recording things. They also just look like headphones so you can look inconspicuous while you're recording your friends conversations. Too bad I didn't hear how they sounded until yesterday - I could have ordered them sooner. Tia had a pair and I tested them out last weekend in my digital voice recorder and I was blown away. I now am very excited about the possibilities of their use.

Okay, I guess I should just get a move on and get on with this all.

I will update you later.
