Chicken Hut

Chicken Hut is a restaurant down the street from my apartment. It always smells really good outside... you can watch them barbecue chickens through the window... It's a bit disturbing but it smells oh so good.
Speaking of my apartment it is now officially called Belmont apartments and it has this spiffy new awning above the door.

These are some pictures from my walk on Monday. Once is of a power station? The other is of some stained glass windows at Trinity Lutheran Church on Addison.

Today my friend Janet is coming into town for a business meeting. We are going to get together this evening - hopefully I'll be able to stay awake. I didn't go to bed until after midnight and now I'm up before six again.

Katie is leaving today. See Ya!

I Heart Wifi! (again)

So I decided to put my computer back where it used to be in my apartment and lo and behold I'm back in the wifi business. I sure did miss it. Hopefully it will stay a while this time. I'd post more but I'm tired.

What Now?

It's a bit muggy out but not too bad. Today I went down to school with Karolina and helped her email a resume and cover letter for a job. We then went shopping (she went shopping) for tank tops and then we headed up to Starbucks (where Andrew Works). He made me a grande iced nonfat latte... it was good and just the way I like it - HEAVILY DISCOUNTED!

On the way home I went to my first Weight Watchers meeting of the week. Hopefully I won't need to go to four this week - I doubt that I will, I'm feeling pretty strong (but as some of you may very well know by now things can change quickly in my life...). After the meeting I went to Binny's Beverage Depot and I looked at the beer. I didn't buy any though, I don't really need it. (although I LIKE it a lot!). Finally I went to the Brown Elephant (a thrift store) to look at stuff... I didn't buy anything there either. Now I'm home.

Tonight I plan on watching Last Comic Standing. I could use a good laugh.

My deodorant seems to be failing me... anyone have any good recommendations?

Why Did I Show My Belly?

argh... it must have been the heat or something. I suppose since it's out there (literally) any prospective suitors who are turned off by it won't be posting comments... Weed them out before they can break my heart!

Katie Leaves Tomorrow.

I honestly don't care that Katie Couric is leaving the Today Show. If I have to watch one more celebrity say how much they love her and are going to miss her I'll think I'll vomit. I still think it was a big mistake that they didn't peg Ann Curry to take he spot.

It's still hot this morning... I got up at 5:30 and I am already sweating like a pig on a spit... like cheese left out on a counter... you get the picture.

Today I might go to the MCA to look at art.

Shield Your Eyes!

This is my belly (sort of). I went to Kmart today and I tried on some outfits. This swimsuit was in the fitting room so I decided to try it on. I would never dream of wearing this thing out in public but it wasn't too bad. (so why in the hell am I puting it on my blog? Good question!) Remember that the camera adds 10 pounds! I think it was a size 6 or 8 - I put the bottoms on over my underwear because you never really know where a swimsuit bottom has been do ya? I think my belly button is a bit droopy - nothing a little tummy tuck wouldn't cure! I ended up buying a white tank top for $4.00 - what a deal. I walked home from there (4 miles?) and I sweat off a few pounds while I was at it.

Memorial Day

Last night I watched Monster in Law. It was pretty bad, but it didn't stop me from watching it. That Michael Vartan is a cutie pie... Have I ever mentioned how many Michaels I know? Well first you know about my friend Michael formerly known as MTCBFC, there's my ex brother in law Michael, my friend Michael Callahan I used to work with, my friend Andrew whose name is actually Michael.... I'm sure there is more but it's still before 7:30 am on Monday so if I think of any more I'll let you know.

Today I should get out again.. it's going to be nice but not as hot as yesterday (but close!). I need to exercise - yesterday I ate nothing but carbs... and a bit of sugar. I feel like crap. I think it's a touch of PMS too... Oh the joys of womanhood!

Maybe I'll take five showers today, I only took two yesterday.

I started reading Still Life With Woodpecker, so far so good. It has very short chapters so I don't have to concentrate for long periods of time.

It is Stinking Hot!

Today it was 95... And I'm a sweaty Betty! I spent the morning at Target and Home Depot.. I tried on some really cute dresses that I can't afford right now. But I actually looked skinny! I realize this may not be a big thing to some of you out there but I have thought of myself as a fat girl for a long time and it is only recently that I actually see myself as skinny.

I would write more but my laptop emits heat and my lap is a bit too sweaty to be comfortable. Oh, and remember to check out my blog with Matt (it hurts to be horizontal) You could be the first to visit it!

If Peri Gilpin Can Have Kids at 42 So Can I!

I just saw that Peri Gilpin who played Roz on Frazier has two year old twins and she is turning 45 tomorrow.. so there is still hope for me! Whew, I can sleep easier now. I may have to go out for a quick walk. It is very warm in my apartment.

Ducks Do It - Why Can't I?

That is mate for life. I probably could mate for life but I haven't found the right duck yet. The reason I bring up ducks is that I walked through the Lincoln Park Zoo this morning and there was a girl duck who flew into the bird area of the zoo. She made this big old hullabaloo quacking and such... In a few seconds a boy duck came out of the plethora of birds and starting following her. Now if I could get some guy to follow me around the zoo by just making a big stink I would! I must admit that I was mesmerized by them.

Later on in my walk I came across some geese. I must say that geese are not my favorite birds because they poop far too much, but there were a bunch of baby geese (gosling's?) and one of them had a limp! I felt an immediate connection with it because I too limp a bit after I've been walking for a while. I wanted to go and hug it but I thought it might cause a scene.

After walking around for approximately four hours (I gained those activity points today!), I went to the library to get some DVD's for the long weekend. I was very excited to see Junebug available - You can find some jems once in a while.. I also picked up Monster In Law (love that J-lo!), Seabiscut and a workout dvd. I also checked out Still Life With Woodpecker, my advisor last fall recommended I read it. Because I am a slow reader I may not make it through, but I'll give it a try.

The thought has occurred to me today that if this whole art thing doesn't work out I might become a stand up comedian. I wonder if there's a Berlitz type school for that?

I have a new blog...

Well actually it's going to be shared by my friend Matt and myself... It's called It hurts to be horizontal... I've put a link to it on the right.

It's been a busy day... I am tired and can't think too well. I'll post again tomorrow.

One More Thing From Seattle...

Mary Kay Laterneau and Villi Falau. They sure make a cute couple however strange it may be - They are going to be on the Today show this morning, hopefully they'll be on before I have to leave.

On the agenda today I am going to meet Karolina at 9:30 and walk to school. Hopefully my hip will survive - it's a little stiff again today. Then I'm going to give the tour and I think we (Karolina and myself) are going to go to the Dollar Tree to buy decorations and party favors for her birthday party. Tonight there is an opening of a show that Jerry Bleem is having... he's the person I am going to be a TA for in the fall.

So Mary and Villi were just on... they're a little strange but who knows... maybe it is true love.

Tomorrow will be the first morning I won't have to weigh in in about three years. I might just weigh in for the heck of it. NOT! I've been keeping pretty good track of what I've been eating and I haven't fallen off the wagon too much (with the exception of the Whole Foods debacle). Did I list off what I managed to hoover in a manner of a few minutes? Let's see if I can remember... 2 two bite scones, a chocolate lacey, a caremelita (it's a yummy shortbread cookie), 1 chocolate macaroon, three cheddar cheese cubes and a chicken quesadilla sample. I figured it was at least 18 points. Oh well, no going back!

That's it for now.

I got an email today from my friend Kristen (I like to call her Kristi and I let her call me Jenny (Jennie?)). She told me she reads my blog every morning which makes me very happy!

She works at the Law Firm that I worked at before I left for school. She is a legal secretary (just like my sister Hilary). She and I are both underachievers when it comes to finding men. It's not that we CAN'T find a man, it's that we are very picky... (okay, basically, I'm just a chicken when it comes to meeting people, getting out and about and expressing interest in people).

Right now I'm watching Starting Over, it makes me feel a little better about myself watching the people in that house. I suppose I could be in the Starting Over house myself but then all of my secrets would be out in the open and we can't have that! When the show is over I am going to go to the library and download the Dixie Chicks so I can listen to them tomorrow.

Maybe Kristi will email me a picture of herself so I can post it and show you all how cute she is!

Today I Will Be Productive!

This is a picture my mom sent me of Tucker and Stanley yesterday. I sure do miss them a lot. I miss home a lot too. Chicago is nice, but it's not home. Let's see, what else do I miss? I miss my car (although I don't miss buying gas). I miss my friends and my family. I miss having a steady income. I miss having a backyard that I can walk through the grass and pick up dog poop. I miss cable TV. I miss my weight watchers meeting...

Some Good Things.

If you eat three weight watcher brand bagels it's only six points. Lightening is cool. Lost was good and Taylor won American Idol.

Maybe I'll get off my ass tomorrow and do something. Maybe my problem has been PMS? Will someone please send me a lot of money?

Today's events.

Well, this morning I found out that my apartment building has been sold. I'm not sure how I feel about this... maybe I should have moved when I had the chance.

I found out also that my dad spent the night in the hospital because he had heart palpitations. He's okay now, he just has to follow up with his cardiologist.

I walked to Stanley's produce today and got some fruit and vegetables. I didn't go to the studio... I seem to be avoiding it.

Tonight is the season finale of Lost. At least I have something to look forward to.

What to do today?

I should really go into the studio and work. I have less tendency to eat if I'm there, and I might actually make something interesting. I also should go to the library today.

My hip is killing me this morning, hopefully someday soon I can get it fixed.

I've figured out that I'm a little bit in the dumps because I am starting to worry about money again, I know realistically my family will not let me become destitute and I will be making money this summer giving tours and being a TA, but I'm worried that it won't be enough to cover my rent in a few more months. I know everything will work out but I'm still a bit worried.

Tuesday, May 23, 2006

Today I ended up spending most of the day with Karolina. We looked at a few apartments. She will be moving in August when her boyfriend moves to Florida to go to school.

When we were done I went to another Weight Watchers meeting. Same topic as yesterday, but different leader. When I was finished I walked up to Jewel-Osco and bought some ground turkey, light hamburger buns and some relish. I made a fish sandwich for dinner. It was alright, but it was no Filet of Fish.

Tonight I might watch American Idol.. but since I haven't watched it yet this season I might not.

What's a Girl To Do.

What should I do today? Well, currently I'm doing laundry and waiting for my coffee to be ready. I think I might go to the library and update my itunes. I pre-ordered the Dixie Chicks album and it should download today! It supposed to be nice today so I might take a walk down by the lake... there might be cute boys down there.

I also might go to another Weight Watchers meeting. I'm not feeling too stable in my convictions right now.

Last night I had a dream about my friend Matt. In my dream he slept with a girl who lives in my apartment building and goes to my school. Now I'll tell you, he would not be the sort of person who would do that thing so it's kind of strange. Oh well.... I guess he'll be excited that I actually dreamed about him. And no, he was not naked.

Lucky 500!

500 people have visited my blog so far (okay, maybe 20 are me visiting before I knew how to block myself from the counter).

Today there was only one person on the tour and she had to be somewhere else by 1:00 so I did an abbreviated tour. When I was done I walked home... on the way I stopped by Fannie Mae and ate some free carmels, then I walked to whole foods and they must have been having a sweets extravaganza. I calculated and I ate over 38 points today with all my free samples and regular food. On the way home I stopped by a meeting (Weight Watchers) and the topic was not letting a lapse throw you off track completely. I feel better. Maybe I'll just keep going to meetings to keep my occupied.

Hip Displasia.

I'm not sure if human beings can get hip displasia but if they can I have it. I think I'm falling apart - physically that is. On today's agenda I am giving the tour and then I might go to Stanley's to buy produce. I need to stay on track with the healthy eating and I need to stop spending money that I don't have on things I don't need.

If I spelled displaysia wrong I'm sorry.

Things I Should Know by Now.

1. Starting to have a drinks at 4pm for an 8pm party is not such a good idea.
2. Cutting baguettes when you have had a few beers does not bode well for delicate fingers.
3. I shouldn't stay out until 3:30 am.

This morning even my coffee doesn't taste good....

Once in a Lifetime...

As you can tell by the photos I made Lifetime at Weight Watchers... It only took me just under three years. So what am I doing in order to celebrate?? Eating and drinking of course... well not really. I am going to a party tonight and I have made a sun-dried tomato and kalamata olive tapanade to take. I also found my second favorite beer at Jewell... you might recall from an earlier post that my second favorite beer is Redhood ESB. The best part about finding it again? It was on sale again! How about that?

In the top picture I am seem receiving my gold-like key charm for my keyring from Dawn, she is my leader. Please excuse my appearance but I was a tired puppy last night and I didn't get a chance to shower and put on a good fitting bra this morning. Also I am aware that my t-shirt is a bit baggy, but unless someone is going to give me a gift card to Target, Old Navy or K-Mart, I am wearing what I own.

Right now I am watching the New Yankee Workshop with Norm Abrahms - He used to be on This Old House... I sort of find him attractive - in a big cuddly bear way.

Well, I guess that's it for now. I'll check back in later.

Tired Puppy.

I've accomplished all my tasks today. Drank water, walked to and from school (my feet and hips are aching!), and ate fruits and veggies. Now I'm laying in bed and need to turn out the light. I'll let you all know if I make lifetime tomorrow.

Matt Lauer in Barcelona... I'm a Hog.

This morning Matt Lauer is in Barcelona.. I really enjoyed it when I was there back in 2002. If you haven't been you should go.

Last night I fell off the wagon.. I had a package of Fischer Scone Mix. I mixed up half of the package and ate them all! When I got on the scale this morning I was 142.2... argh!!! I have to weigh in tomorrow morning and I can't be over 142 or I won't make Lifetime. My plan is as follows. 1. I am going to eat veggies today. 2. I am going to walk to school (and back if possible). 3. I'm going to drink all my water. Hopefully that will work. Sometimes I have the willpower of a fat kid in a candy store. They say that there is a positive intention behind every action... even if it is stuffing your face. Usually for me I am trying to make myself feel better (because I'm sad or lonely etc...) and food will never let you down.

Well, I better get a move on. I figure it will take me at least an hour and fifteen minutes to get to school.

The Bean Before the Storm.

I changed the settings on my digital camera to make the images smaller (smaller number of pixels). It takes less time to upload photos. Groovy. I might actually be able to do this from my apartment more readily. I'll try some more.

Today I have to work on my proposal to be in the show... It's been a while since I've written an Artists Statement - it will be good practice for me.

My grammer aint so good....

My beeg seester pointed out to me that my description on my blog was incorrectly punctuated. I fixed it. On the way home today there was hail the size of peas! There was also thunder and lightening. I nice gentleman caught up with me and let me share his umbrella while I was walking from the train. That was very nice of him... maybe he's single? We talked a little bit... who knows... It's nice to know that people can be friendly without expecting anything in return.

Now I'm soggy and waiting for my chicken to bake and my coat to dry out (jacket I mean).

Tonight new episodes of Americas Next Top Model and Lost are on... yippee!

To Do List.

Let's see! Today is my last day of my bus pass... I have to go to school and pick up my authorization form. Go on an Undergrad tour if the person who is good at giving it is available... I have to figure out how to reduce the size of my images into jpegs for a show I am going to apply to be in. It's all about sustainability and how art can fit into it... since most of my recent stuff is made out of garbage and recycled materials I figure I might as well go for it if I can figure out how to resize the images.

Today I also need to exercise a bit. I've been eating too much and not exercising. Well, I take that back, I did take a walk yesterday for about an hour and a half. I should also work in my studio a bit. I can't NOT work....

I wish wifi would come back.

Pictures of Bob Bridget Elizabeth and Dave... and Matt's Package

Finally I have trekked down to the library to use the wifi here.... These are pictures of my outing with Bob and friends...

My friend Matt sent me a care package yesterday... it was very nice of him... It contained things I really like (popcorn, candy and liquor..) and things that are just strange... (a satin pajama top with hearts on it, oatmeal, poker chips, black velvet painting kit...). Okay, oatmeal is not strange, but I would rather slit my wrists and drink my own blood than eat oatmeal (unless it's in a cookie). Last night I managed to polish off both packages of popcorn, and the Easter candy (20 points down the tubes there....). Matt just emailed me that he bought the pajama top at Goodwill for a skit he was doing at work... likely story.

Okay, I have to listen the Lost Podcast here for a few minutes.. I may post again soon.

Monday, May 15, 2006

God Damn Grey's Anatomy....

They just put the dog to sleep on Grey's Anatomy and it made me think about my poor little Addison.... I miss that litte guy. (insert sad face here...).

I have changed my description...

For those of you with keen eyesight you may notice that I have updated the description of my blog. It now says "A second year grad students".... blah blah blah...

Today the tour went alright. I also found out that I'm getting a raise. Yee haw! My friend Matt has started his own blog. I will link to it tomorrow... I've got to eat now!

What the???

So the title of this post "What the???" has nothing to do with anything... I just figured I should type something new.

Today the plan is to give the grad tour all by myself... I think I'll be fine. It will be better because I'm not being watched and I won't be so self conscious. After the tour I have to drop off my DVD at the library. I watched the Interpreter with Sean Penn and Nicole Kidman. Sean Penn is kind of hot in a weird way.

I wish I had wifi... I need to get a bike or a bus pass...

It's All About Momma!

Happy Mothers day to all you mothers out there. If I haven't told you all how great my mom is here you go. My mom is great! I could tell stories about her.... Here's one that's not too bad... When I was in High School I had my first boyfriend (Trevor) over at the house. We were all alone, and my mom knew this.. she was coming home from somewhere and as she was driving down the street to our house she starts blaring on the horn just to make sure that we weren't doing anything we shouldn't be doing - or if we WERE doing something we shouldn't have been doing we stopped. I think that's pretty funny.

This is pretty indicative of how my mom is. When I was growing up I had a few of my friends say that they wish they had a mom like mine. I'm glad she's my mom and I love her a lot!

Saturday, May 13, 2006

Good day .....

Today was good.... good conversation about artwork, good food, good party. That's it for now.

One More Week Until Lifetime!

Okay, this morning I was a bit surprised when I stepped on the scale and was down .4 pounds... one more week and I will be a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. It's about time. After the meeting this morning I walked up to Jewel-Osco and bought stuff for a corn/black bean salad for our get together tonight. I also bought some Egg-Beaters (maybe it was Better than Eggs...) and when I got home I made myself an omelet with mushrooms, tomatoes and reduced fat cheddar cheese... it may sound like it's not so good but it was yummy!

Now I am listening to Wait Wait Don't Tell Me on WBEZ... Tom Hanks is/was playing Not My Job - he won.

Okay, I guess that's it for now, be back later.

One Year Down, One to Go...

So I have officially completed my first year of Graduate study. What do I think? I think I need a drink (just kidding this time!).

I was told the first week of classes that time would fly and it has. There have been downs and downs and ups, but I have made it so far and before I know it will be all over. I think when I began I was an emotional wreck for a lot of reasons, but now I feel better and hopefully this summer I can experiment with putting together things I love to do with my art practice... (such as watching TV, eating, plants, geology and talking walks... oh, and looking for my future husband.)!

I am also looking forward to working on my suntan.

My project for class was received well. As I expected, I am my own worst critic.

I might take a bath tonight and use a whole bath bomb! Tomorrow I have weight watchers and we are having an end of the year fibers grad review/barbecue. Hmmm food!

I wish my wifi would come back. Oh well, I better check out now. I will wax poetic later. (what does that mean?)

Thursday, May 11, 2006

Thursday Night Fun.

Okay, only one more day of classes and then I'm done for the year (thank you Jesus!). I'm putting the final touches on my project for art history and trying to watch Survivor, the Office and ER tonight... Oh to be a slave to the TV...

Happy Birthday Hilary!

I completly forgot to mention that today is Hilary's 36th birthday! (although I don't know how she can be 36 if I just turned 39 and she is older than me...) I will her later to sing to her... it's too early to call her right now - it's 5:30 Seattle time...

I'm not bi-polar really.

What the hell is my problem??? I've got to do something to change my frame of mind... I'm still working on my project - I have to get it done soon. It sucks being a perfectionist... I always think I can do better even though what I've done is fine.

Today I am going to Jerry Bleems place to look at his collections. We are having a potluck, I made a salad with brown rice, raisins, dried apricots, basalmic vinaigrette and nuts. I ate enough of it last night to gain a pound. (hmm fiber).

Still no wifi.

Wednesday, May 10, 2006

Downward Spiral?

The past two days I've been kind of down. Is it because it's the end of the semester? Is it because I'm 39 and have no hope of ever reproducing? Is it because I'm just a pathetic human being? I don't know. If anyone has any thoughts let me know.

This morning I am feeling a bit better. Every once in a while I just need to have a pitty party.

Today I am meeting with Darrel my advisor for one last time. I think I'll show him my signs that I've been working on. I started making the signs of statements people have said to me that hurt my feelings. My latest says "I'm sorry but I am not going to sleep with you." That was said to me about 16 years ago... I find it kind of funny now, but at the time I was crushed.

I also have to whip up something for a potluck tomorrow and work on my final project for art history.

I want my free wifi back.... Oh, also I posted a rant/rave on craigslist last night as well, why do a whole lot of people walk and smoke at the same time here? I got an inappropriate response from someone - I'm saving it and I might make some work with it. Who knows.

Tuesday, May 09, 2006

Tonight I am sad. I started out fine, but then one thing leads to another, you start thinking about things... what was, what could have been and then it comes (the sadness). Good thing I only had one beer in the apartment and not six. I'll be better tomorrow, hopefully.

I miss my dog.

Monday, May 08, 2006

Today I sort of gave the grad tour by myself. Next week it's going to be all me. I also found out today that I will get to give the tours this summer on both Monday and Friday! Yay, more money! It's good that it will keep me busy.

Wifi is still gone... maybe tomorrow I'll go to the Library and post some pictures of my adventures with Bob, Bridget, Elizabeth and Dave.

Oh, In case you were wondering, I found a blog that has the answers to the Davinci code puzzles... whew!

I'll post again soon!

Sunday, May 07, 2006

WiFi gone... no bike...

Okay, so I'm still out of the free wifi business and I have no bike. There were only a few bikes when we got there... I guess I was expecting more. After we checked out the bikes, Karolina and I went to Stanley's (Produce store_ to get produce, she had never been there and she was very excited.

Tomorrow, I have to give the Graduate Tour by myself... hopefully it will go well. I have to remember everything - argh! I also need to get started on my final project for Art History.

Saturday, May 06, 2006

I would have posted sooner but my free wifi is not here today. When I get a chance I will post photos but it takes too long on dial up.

Yesterday Robert, Bridget Elizabeth and Dave all came to Chicago to go to the symphony. We met early and went to the Art Institute and walked around a bit. When I have more time I will embellish. I have some good photos.

Last night was the MFA opening, some good stuff and some not as good stuff. It's weird to think that I'll be there next year.

This morning I weighed in and was up 1.4, but I kind of expected that, I haven't been too good this past week, but I am back on track now. After the meeting I went to Target, JoAnn's Fabric and Cub Foods. I bought a pair of shorts at target, THEY ARE A SIZE 4! I just had to shout that out, they fit a bit weird in the back (as in my waist is too small) but they are cute and I can wear a shirt untucked with them.

My hip is really sore, I think something went out of whack when I fell. If things don't clear up I'll have to find someone to put it back into place.

Tomorrow I am going to buy a bike.

Friday, May 05, 2006

It's All Bob! (sorry Matt)

Last night I got a phone call from my fiend Robert, he is a Freshman at Lawrence University and Music Conservatory in Appleton Wisconsin. He called because he and some of his friends are coming to Chicago today to go to the Symphony. We are going to meet up at the Museum (which I happen to have a few passes for!) and hang out for a while. Tonight is the MFA Graduate exhibition opening. I will go to that after seeing Robert.

My body is really sore. I'm also doing laundry. I think my coffee is ready so I will check with you guys later!

Thursday, May 04, 2006

I have been playing the DaVinci Code puzzle game on Google and today's question is a stumper, I don't know if I'm reading it right or not. It is making me cranky. If there is anyone out there who knows the answer let me know. Bear with me, this sounds funny... I had to find four hidden blades (pyramids) on a map of London once I did I got this question. "You have found all four Blades, and lo" they draw an X over a place just slightly north of the Victoria and Albert Museum, home of Leonardo's Codex Forster. What is its name?"

what is what's name??? I've been gooling all over the place and I can't figure out if they are asking for the name of the Codex (if there's a different one) Or the name of the place north of the museum? I can't figure it out and it's pissing me off! Help me.

Karolina reprimanding my Thermos.

They also just had a item on the news about blogs being an influence on society. Hmmmm... I'm an influence.... interesting.

It Sucks Getting Old.

Today I walked home from the studio. Around mile 2 my body started aching... I think it is the after effects (affects?) of falling down last night. I have a few nice bruises and one sore hip!

I've gotten some nice emails from people regarding my critique and comments on how pretty my thermos is. Oh, I also got an email from my friend Michael and we're cool with the whole obsession thing.

I'm hoping that I will be able to stay up tonight so I can watch all my shows... Survivor, The Office and ER. Last night Lost was a shocker! I won't ruin it for anyone and mention about the shootings! OOPS!

I guess that's it for now, if I think of anything else I need to say I will post again.

Reactionary Art / My Brand New Thermos.

This photo is self evident. It is sitting outside my studio. I have decided to make some work that takes remarks that have affected (effected?) me over the years and put them into work... I'm working on one that says I'm sorry, but I am NOT going to sleep with you. I may end up taking more quotes that I have found and written down, but for now I'm just going to go with personal things.

The next photo is of Jenerator and her new thermos. Isn't it beautiful?

My ankle really hurts (and my hip and my arm a bit...) from falling down yesterday. Maybe I'll take a bath tonight. On the agenda today is returning my DVD to the library and getting dressed, but in a different order.

Updates from the front....

Okay, so today wasn't so bad. First off I was a bit depressed because of my critique yesterday. I decided in order to elevate my mood I would dress like a girl - I figured if I looked nice I might feel nice, for the most part it worked.

I went to my friend Karolina's critique, hers went really well. Later, we took the train to her boyfriends place of employment (starbucks) and hung out until he was done (with a side trip to trader Joes). While we were at starbucks I bought myself a thermos (I'll post a picture tomorrow.). I then came home and had a small accident. I hooked my pinky toe in my laptop power cord and proceeded to knock the laptop on the floor and fall on my hip against my bedside table. I think I might be sore tomorrow. After watching exciting episodes of Americas Next Top Model and Lost I went to Guthries to meet a bunch of friends for drinks. I had two of the 22 oz Fat Tire Ales and played a few board games. Now (it's 2:11) I am posting and having some horseradish humus and whole wheat pretzels. Yum. I should probably go to bed if I plan on getting anything done tomorrow. Talk to you tomorrow.

My eyes are a bit puffy, but I'll be alright.

After an evening of a bit of crying and a lot of sleeping I am ready to face the world again. I don't want to think about my critique too hard, but some of the positives were, they commented on my photography (which is good), they liked my ugly art and my Lard pants. Marty and Karolina said that they were full of crap and I should keep doing what I'm doing. It's good to have friends that believe in what you do.

I guess my problem is that I don't have my convictions (my voice) clear about my work. Maybe I'll work on that.

Today is Karolina's critique, hopefully it goes better than mine. She is serving cocktail wieners wrapped in blankets with horseradish. I might go buy a bike afterwards. Tonight we are supposed to go to Guthries to drink and play board games.

All I have left to do before the end of the semester is put together my final project for my outsider art class. I have a week and a half.

I don't see anything of substance here...

Famous words from my critique today. I'll expand more later when I'm not cranky about it. I wish I had my dog here with me.

The Calm Before the Storm.

Okay, so I'm not thinking that my critique is going to be storm like, but you never know. This morning I had a good breakfast of two Kashi Go-Lean blueberry waffles and I'm currently drinking coffee.

I just saw on tv that the Mariners are in town. I wonder if I could find tickets? I doubt it. Oh well, I better get going. I'll let you all know later how it went.

First Paycheck Violator

Today I picked up my first paycheck in 8 months... although it was only $89.61 it's all mine! I'm going to buy a bicycle. This afternoon I checked my email and it turns out that I have a fire code violation in my studio. (Too many extension cords...) I hope they can stay up until my critique is over... Hopefully the whole building won't go up in flames... wouldn't that suck? I think I will dismantle the extension cords after my critique is over.

Oh well... I'll post more later tonight or tomorrow. It depends on weather or not I can sleep tonight.

Meals I Have Eaten

Meals I Have Eaten

Have you all checked out this blog? I have a link to it on the right. There are often pictures of yummy food to be seen.

Jesus is my co-pilot.

This is a picture from the Dickeyville Grotto. I like it! Today I am going to go to the studio and do some fine tuning and then return home and try not to stress out too much.

This next picture is of the Wisconsin landscape. I had always imagined what it might look like but you can never quite picture it until you're there. It was like walking through a Grant Wood painting.

I'll post some more pictures later.
