I woke up this morning to see Lester Holt dressed up as Susan Boyle on the Today Show. It was pretty funny.

You will see I am gracing the blog this morning with my photo from Halloween 2007 - there I am, the undead Ann Curry.

Today I don't have much going on. I am helping my momma with a memorial service she's working at and then I may be going out with my friend Nancy. I don't know about that yet though. Mom has offered to take us to Black Angus for dinner... who knows. The last time we were there we had really bad service...

I'm thinking I might wear a wig to ww this morning... I have a platinum pageboy wig that I bought last year.

I'm looking forward to weighing in this week. I've been on track and haven't gone too out of control...

Let me see... I should go to the studio today - okay, I will go to the studio.

xoxo Happy Halloween!

My pal Al

oh the memories of the Today Show Halloween!

Super dog!

Zoe has a little bit too much energy this morning. I slept in a little bit this morning... It felt pretty good...

Last night my get together was canceled... I don't really mind. My tummy was feeling a bit funky but I think it was just the result of eating too much sorbitol.

I had a dream last night that I went to a high school reunion. It was on an island somewhere... here's the low down. I ran into a girl that I sort of recognized but I couldn't really remember her name. She was really offended... (she's now a travel agent). I tried to get her to tell me who she was... finally she did. It turns out that she wasn't even in my class... and she was on the gymnastic team.. okay, next part of the dream... I wandered around some rooms, then I found a tray with an assortment of hostess treats, and fresh fruits... then we has to get back on the ferry for the ride home and they locked me in the room I was in (it happened to be a car) and they took the treats away.

I don't like those types of dreams...

Oh well, it's payday!

What are you looking at?

Good morning everyone! I am feeling alright this morning. The flu is going around my office so I need to take care of myself. I went to bed a little after nine last night and am feeling pretty refreshed (although I did miss the episode of Top Chef...).

I am coming to you this morning from Old Crusty. She is a little slow, but she is warm on my lap and loves me unconditionally.

Tonight I am to go out for drinks with an artist who is visiting for the last show at Crawl Space.... I don't really drink but maybe I can have a shirley temple or something...

Hmmmm.... what else? I guess that's it...

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

Crusty II is going on a vacation...

I have to take Crusty to the Apple Store this afternoon.

I have Old Crusty here as a backup so things will be just fine...

I'm not feeling the words coming out of my fingers this morning...

I'm ready for a vacation I think...

I'm thinking I should go get a flu shot... I have to figure out where to go... I've been told I can go to Safeway and get one...

I haven't had the flu since I was in elementary school. I don't really want to have it again...

okay - random thing here (well, not really that random)... my hair place is going to offering massages again soon. I am really looking forward to that... I bought a package deal a while back and I still have a few of them left. I need to get myself a rub down...

That's it for now... I will be coming to you next time from Old Crusty!

What's wrong now?

Now I have a muscle being funky in my shoulder... it's a bit tight because of that body sculpting class.

Last Saturday I got my hair done so I couldn't go to the gym. My friend Holly was sick so she didn't teach cycle. My friend Marjorie told me that people were hoping that I was teaching... she knew that I wasn't going to be there... That makes me feel good though. People actually like my class. The last few classes have been full.

Work is going well... I like them, they like me... I'm starting to organize plans for Chicago in February... I've entered my work into a show.... I think I'm on the right track... now I just need to win the lottery and then I'll be set. I just need to pay off the school loans and then I could buy more clothes at Nordstrom! I went during lunch yesterday and didn't buy anything!

Okay - I think that might be it for this morning.

I'm not enjoying this.

I'm not looking forward to getting out into the rain this morning.

I ended up going to bed at 10:00 last night. It was nice not having cats trying to interrupt my sleep. I like being at home. I just have a little under two weeks until I'm headed off to my next house-sitting job. I should enjoy the time in my own bed while I can.

I don't think I have a ton going on this week. Thursday I am supposed to go out for drinks with a visiting artist coming in for the last show at Crawl Space.

Did I ever share this promo shot of Artstar?

That night was freezing... we were down by a warehouse in Brooklyn.... did I mention that I'm trying to get a login for a television company in Amsterdam so I can watch a few of the episodes online? If I manage to do that I'll let you know.

Sunday, October 25, 2009

Here I am.

I bet you thought I was gone... I just haven't had any time to sit down yet today...

I taught this morning, then went to lunch with the family and then off to the Apple Store to get Crusty II checked up. I'm going to have to send her away for about five days to get her fixed. I ended up having to get an external hard drive so I could back her up before I send her away. I don't want to loose any good information and/or photos. That would be a shame. I think I will be okay without her for a few days. Maybe I will be forced to socially interact with more people.

I can handle it... mom has her imac so I won't miss any blog posting.

Last night the cats started rubbing against the door of the bedroom I was sleeping in. Arghh... then I woke up to cat barf on the rug outside my door.

Now I'm back home hanging with the dogs. I like hanging with them... they are low maintenance and they don't barf as often as cats. I decided to do some laundry as well. I've run out of towells to use during cycle class.

Today during class I waved to Mr. Arms and he waved back... he sure has nice arms... hence the name.

I should go and clean something... maybe my room?

The best bathtub in the world.

Tonight I took a bath in the worlds best bathtub. Okay, almost the worlds best bathtub... it was deep and the water flew out of the tub in a gentle stream.. the only problem was that the warm water ran out so it was sort of lukewarm.

I'm hanging out on the sofa in Mercer Island.... I get to teach tomorrow and then it's off to celbrate momma birthday lunch. I know it's lame but I will probably end up going to bed well before 10. The cats woke me up at 4:45. argh...

So, I mentioned earlier that cyber man called me. I called back but he wasn't home... and the phone tag begins again. At least he called back right? Who knows maybe someday I'll actually meet him.

I think I shall go now. I feel the need to look online to see what I'm going to have for lunch tomorrow.... and I think I might hit the hay.

Here I am (sort of).

I have a brand new haircut and now I am going to ruin it all by going to the gym.

Cyber Man called while I was getting my haircut... woo hoo.   Who knows?  Things may be looking up!

Friday, October 23, 2009

It's Friday and I am (almost) ready to go.

It is Friday! I am here with Zoe. She's been hanging out with momma since 1 am because she couldn't sleep.

Yesterday I started getting a pain in my upper left arm. It's a muscle thing... (I know Shirley you're going to tell me to take it easy) I wasn't doing anything! It just started hurting.

I took a bath last night to try and soak it out... it doesn't hurt too much today....

This weekend I am watching the pets of one of my bosses (his daughter will be at the house too)... He lives near Paul Allens place so I can go snoop out his garden... he has a scupture garden right before you get to his house (there's a gate there...).... Last time I stayed there I checked it out. He has a Deborah Butterworth horse (you've seen one of those you've seen them all)... I can't remember what else he has...

Today I am going to try to send off an application to the COCA annual. it's an art show. hopefully I can get it all put together at lunchtime and send it off. It costs 15 bucks to enter but I think it's worthwhile...

Okay, Stinky came and it sitting next to me so I think I should spend some quality time with her...

More later.

Happy Half Birthday!

Today is my mommas birthday which means (if you are a regular reader or know me personally) that it is my half birthday as well.

We don't have any special plans until Sunday lunch.

I slept in this morning. I woke up a few times in the middle of the night with my hip bugging me. I think it's because I ran last night at the gym. Oh well. the price I pay for thin thighs.

Not too much else to report. This weekend I am going to be staying at one of my bosses house to feed his pets. His daughter is going to be there too.... she'll see how the older single hip people live (sitting on the sofa watching television).

I walked into Nordstrom yesterday and two people in the Point of View department greeted me by name. hmmmm.... maybe I should stretch out my radius of shopping during lunch.

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Can you feel it?

I can feel it now! It feels like I have lead weights on my arms.. I can barely move them.... oh momma!

I had a dream last night that I was helping one of my bosses shop for holiday gifts - strange.

Today I don't have a lot on the agenda. Work and then the gym... maybe I should think about going to the studio soon...

My lunch yesterday was good.... I had lemongrass beef in a noodle bowl.

Someday let me tell you about the conversation I had with Shelby my waxer... it has to do with boyfriends.... and my lack of one... it's interesting.

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Full of it.

Zoe is going full force this morning... she definitely has more energy than I do.

I sat down on the sofa and she came roaring up and leaped on my - making me spill my coffee on my lap.

Today I am going to lunch with my friend Cindy. We're going to Bambuza - it's a Vietnamese restaurant... I think I might have the mango/jicama salad.

Last night I did the body sculpting class and I used 9 pound weights... my arms aren't sore just yet... I think they will be tomorrow. I can't waste any time pussy footing around with those five-pounders anymore right?

Have I mentioned that one of the perks of working at the gyms is that I get free tanning? I am so excited to take the pastiness out of my life for the winter. If I start to look orange please let me know. I was remembering back to high school when all the girls on the cheerleading squad started tanning... I didn't... that was back in the day when you looked sort of orange... I'd rather be pasty than orange....

I think that's it for the morning.... I am wondering if my blog has lost its zing, its oomph, its je ne sais quo.... let me know. I want to spice it up if it's lacking in any way shape or form....

oh - there's a debate over on Slog (the Stranger's blog) about whether or not the movie Where the Wild Things are is Good or Bad. It's good. Slog - Bad.

Monday, October 19, 2009

I'm in love.

I am in love with the movie Where The Wild Things Are.

All I can say is that I give it a thumbs up. It is visually stunning - it makes you remember what it's like to be little and feel all those emotions that you feel - and all that intensity...

Read this review from
Entertainment Weekly. It says everything you need to know....

I will probably end up buying it when it comes out on DVD.

Overall it was a good weekend. The only complaint I have is that my hip is bugging me this morning.... I'm not as stiff as I was last week... I think it's because I ran the other day... everything is tightening up! (muscles tightening - firm thighs here I come...).

Okay, I think that it's this morning...

Sunday, October 18, 2009

Sunday Morning.

I woke up to the sound of Zoe whining... I got up and fed her and then went back to sleep.

I'm sitting here drinking coffee and gearing up to go cycle... I think I will just do an older playlist... I'm not in the mood to over do it this morning... I didn't get to cycle yesterday so I ran on the treadmill. Mr. Arms was in the class - damn. I missed it...

This afternoon I'm off to Where the Wild Things Are... I hope it's good... I have seen reviews saying that it doesn't have much of a plot. I don't really need a plot.... just a good visual will be fine.

Stinky sat by the door most of the evening waiting for Mom to come home. She never did... She'll be back tonight and Stinky will be happy...

What else??? my armpits and legs are nice and hair free....
That's something to be happy about.

Saturday, October 17, 2009

Good Morning...

I woke up thinking it was a work day... weird things have been happening like that lately... On Tuesday I woke up thinking it was Sunday...

Today we have the usual... ww - the gym, waxing and then I'm off the hook... I think I will probably go to the studio for a while... I need to start working on stuff... Then this afternoon I am going over to one of my Attorney's houses to get the scoop on feeling his pets next weekend.

Next month I am going to be Sammy and Emma sitting for almost three weeks... you might recall Sammy is the cat who went up the tree and stayed there all night. It should be fun... actually I'm looking forward to doing it so I can pay down some of my visa card...

The knot in my shoulder is feeling better this morning but still is tender.

Last night on the way home from work I stopped at the gym. I worked out for almost an hour and a half... then I went tanning. That is one of the perks of working at the gym. I can go tanning for free... GOODBYE PASTY WHITE LEGS!

Tomorrow I am going to go see Where The Wild Things Are with my friend Kelli. We're going to eat at Red Robin first (I've got coupons for free onion rings and a milkshake)... I'll have to work out extra long today (and tomorrow)...

Okay - Balloon boy??? Hoax or not? You decide...

I think I should go now... Momma is going to Oregon overnight so I get to be in charge of the dogs... uh oh! Parrrr-tay!

Friday, October 16, 2009

Sore to the core...

I woke up at 2am with a sore body... I'm still sore... I think I need a massage....

Tomorrow I am getting my legs waxed.... I am really looking forward to it again... my armpits are a bit scary - I supposed I could just break down and shave them, but it's not the same...

Here is a link to Salon Zeka the place I go... if you are in the Kenmore area you should check them out. Last I knew they were going to be hiring a massage therapist - I wonder if it's happened yet?

Hey, if you go tell them I referred you - I'll save myself some money.

Zoe decided to chew a hole in the wall last night.... she chewed off the wallpaper in a spot by her kitchen bed... she got in trouble!

Now back to my body - I've got a cramp or something in my right shoulder blade area.... ouch... I may have to lie down for a bit after I post this to see if I can work out the kink... heh heh heh... I said kink.

It's Friday!

Thursday, October 15, 2009

A dull ache...

The last two mornings I have woken up with a headache. It's in the back of my head so I think it's my neck that's bugging me a bit.

Last night I kicked my own ass at cycle class and my legs are dead (really - dead). Then I was watching Top Chef last night and who should call me but Cyber Man. He's been working on his dissertation so he's been busy... hmmm.... supposedly he's going to be in Seattle in the next couple of weeks and we might actually meet. We'll see...

Yeah - today is payday! That's something good...

I think I'm ready for the weekend... not that work is bad (I love my job)... I'm just ready for it.

I have decided that I am never having another legal type job after this one (unless I get canned - but I don't think that will happen)... I got my Alaska Visa Card and I rejoined CAA - now I just have to wait until I have a little bit of money to sign up for the Conference in February and get my plane ticket. I don't want to have a balance on my card. I read a trick somewhere that I should write down everything I charge in my check register and then when I get my bill I'll already have taken the money out of my account.

I think that sounds like a plan.

Okay, I think I better check my email now... I love you all!

Closing our Gate.

After six years of curating and producing exhibitions, talks and special programs, the individual artists who run Crawl Space Gallery have decided to disband in order to pursue independent interests. Crawl Space will therefore cease to exist following our final and most ambitious show to date, Stranger Circumstances, opening on November 7th, 2009.

Thank you for your support. We hope you will join us for one last celebration on November 7th at 6pm.

This notice came out yesterday....

I haven't wanted to talk about it much until it was official. Yep, Crawl Space has decided to close its doors.... It's not something that I necessarily wanted, but it's better to close than let it die a slow death... I'm sure I'll talk more about it in the coming weeks. I'm going to miss having a place where I can show my art that doesn't quite fit in a mainstream gallery and I'm also going to miss my friends that I got to see on a regular basis.

On the other hand this get's me off my ass and makes me be more pro-active when it comes to showing my work.

I've been thinking that Crawl Space closing is like a marriage ending (sort of)... not everyone always wants it, but you do what's best for the whole.

This is what was best.

Make me a vampire!

I had weird dreams last night. I was part of a group that made people into vampires for cash money. I don't remember everything about it but it was weird. and a bit scary. I don't like scary...

This morning I am up early - it was just a little to hard to stay horizontal... my body hurts. As I was waking up I kept thinking it was Sunday for some reason... it's not, it's Tuesday. Yesterday I made plans for a date night with my friend Kelli. So what if the only date I can get is with my married girlfriend.... We're going to go see Where the Wild Things Are and have lunch. I'm looking forward to it...

Also coming up this week.... payday! woo hoo... I'm hoping my new Alaska Airlines Visa card comes so I can rejoin the College Art Association... I've got to get cracking on this... Once I rejoin I can search there online database and start getting in the swing of looking for teaching jobs. Also, I am breaking out my big puffy coat because it's nice and warm...

Oh, I forgot. I have the house to myself this weekend... Momma's going away on Saturday... PARTAY! okay, maybe not.. but I could have a party... a tea party.

I think since I have time this morning I will check out some art related websites and see what is happening in the art worlds..... off I go.

Monday, October 12, 2009

I need a furlough and a big puffy jacket.

I think we should have a furlough... okay, maybe not a day without pay, but a day off.

I am tired this morning. Not overly tired, but just tired enough.

It's cold outside so I think I might break out my puffy jacket to wear.

Yesterday I drove down to Olympia (Lacey) to see my my friends. I couldn't stay that long because I had a meeting to attend at the gallery... it turns out that I only had to be there only 20 minutes... I should have just stayed in Olympia longer. Oh well, I guess that's how it goes sometimes.

I'm feeling a bit antsy about life right now.... I still feel pretty good but a little antsy art-wise. I need to start working on something...

Is it wrong that I don't want to move off the sofa right now?

Okay, one last thing... I actually had a full cycle class yesterday. Not a single bike was open... we also had people who weren't signed up on the bikes... so some no shows and regulars... It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Sunday, October 11, 2009

Hello Sunday.

Today I slept in until 7:30.. nine and a half hours of sleep will sure do great things for you.

I feel almost normal... Yesterday we went to my cousin Rachel's going away party. She's moving to Virginia to work and then go to school. It was nice to see my relatives. After the party some of us went to Red Robin for dinner. I had a yummy burger and fries. I also split a chocolate milkshake with my cousin Sam. It was good but I need to get back on track...

Today I have to teach cycle and then this afternoon I'm going to go to Olympia to see my friend Shirley and meet her sister who is visiting from Colorado. That should be fun... After that I have to come back for a gallery meeting and review of the show that is closing today.

I thought I should add a picture for you... here is one I took when I was in Barcelona in 2002. It's a closeup of a bench in Park Guell...

I"d like to go back someday to visit... it was really nice....

Okay, I think I'll go now... have a nice day!

Saturday, October 10, 2009

It'd be nice to sleep in.

Sleeping in would be nice... but alas, I am awake.

I'm feeling a bit crampy - that's no good...

I'm not feeling the post this morning...

Oooooh... I bought a new sweater yesterday - it's nice... a bit expensive so I can't eat until after payday...

I have to go... more later.

Friday, October 09, 2009

I decided to make coffee cake this morning for work.

Every Friday we get either bagels or donuts. I decided we needed a change.

I can only sit here a few more minutes...

It's Friday!

Yesterday I went shopping during lunch and I acquired a nice blouse... I might wear it today - maybe I'll wait until next week when I can pull together something a bit spiffy.

Go Obama - way to win the Nobel Peace Prize...

Thursday, October 08, 2009

I just woke up.. I think I could have slept longer.

I'm not quite awake so I don't think I'll be here long.

Last night I stayed home and watched some of my favorite shows... SYTYCD, Glee and Top Chef. I'm sad that Ashley was eliminated from Top Chef... she was from Seattle.

Goodness.... I better go.

Whatever happened to cyber man?

So, my experience of online dating is going slow... I guess I'm not as determined as I should be. That's alright I guess.

I had been communicating with someone but they seem to have fallen off the face of the earth. Oh well, his loss. I'm quite a catch.

Yesterday I sucked it up and applied for an Alaska Airlines Visa Card - I was approved. The plan for this card is first and foremost to earn miles so I can wing my way across the world... I'm going to use it for art related expenses and then pay it off each month. I'm going to wait until I get the card and use it for rejoining CAA (College Art Association) and buying a plane ticket for the conference next February. I'm excited about going to visit my friends and get back into the art swing of things...

I was trying to organize a reunion of sorts for those of us who went to school. There's at least two of us from out of town who are planning on going... good thing a few of my friends still live in Chicago... they don't have to travel anywhere...

Okay, next subject. My body is really sore... I took a body sculpt class on Monday and I hurt. owie owie owie...

Here's more sort of good news... when I was at the chiropractor he said I didn't look at heavy as I told him was. That's good news right?

I think that's it for this morning...

Tuesday, October 06, 2009

Date with the chiropractor.

I can't stay long this morning. I have to go visit my chiropractor at 6:45. I don't know why I agreed to that but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

I think I'll just head downtown after that and then work on a new playlist for cycle.

Speaking of cycle, I think I really overdid it with my last two classes. At least on the legs anyway... they feel on the verge of cramping up at all times...

Okay, I think I better go... I don't want to keep my favorite chiropractor waiting...

Monday, October 05, 2009

Another week, another report.

I'm sitting here getting ready for another work week.

Yesterday I saw my friends Julie and Tia from Grad School. I really miss that core group of people I went to school with. We had a good relationship and we all got along well with each other. We talked about organizing a group to get together in Chicago for CAA (College Art Association meeting). I think it's a great idea.

Spending time with them makes me remember why I went to school. Things are good... We went to the Coastal Kitchen for brunch and it was yummy.

This week on the agenda I don't have too much going on. Cycling - this weekend I have an outing in Olympia and a meeting for the gallery. (one of those things I am looking forward to...)

Yesterday I happened to catch the tail end of an episode of "the City". It's one of those MTV "reality" shows that follow those spoiled people from California. Well, the scene was set in New York at the Today Show. At the end of the show they followed someone walking out past the plaza and I saw my friend Dennis! He's a security guy with Rockefeller Center... it was pretty exciting. I should really go back sometime.
Oh, to be independently wealthy and have firm thighs... that would be the life.

Sweatty Betty

I just got done teaching cycle... I am pooped. I have to go and get ready to have brunch with my friends....

I took my momma to dinner last night and we ate a ton of food and it was really really good!

More later.

Saturday, October 03, 2009

I am tired. I'd like to go back to bed...

My hands are dry. It's cold outside.

I'm subbing cycle class this morning. I have a new playlist... hopefully it works.

I guess we'll find out.

I'm thinking of going to Nathan Hale today to check out the new buildings. I then think I will be heading to my studio to get it organized... and maybe do some work.

I think I will not be looking at the scale this morning at ww...

I have to get back on track and I have to go...

Friday, October 02, 2009

I'm ready.

I'm glad Friday is here.

It's been a long and busy week. It's going to be a busy weekend, but not as busy as last week. I am going to sub tomorrow mornings cycle class and then I teach on Sunday as well.

Tomorrow there is a tour of the new building at my old high school. I was thinking about going to the homecoming game tonight but I think I may pass if it's raining... I get to sign my new lease on my studio tonight AND I've been feeding a cat of a person I know....

Sunday a few friends of mine from Grad School and I are going out to brunch. Julie is visiting from Philly and she in a workshop learning how to coach triathlons.

I think I should get going... I have to work on my new playlist for cycle class...

Thursday, October 01, 2009

My boobies.

In honor of Breast Cancer awareness month I'm going to talk about my boobies for a minute.

Yesterday I had my yearly mammogram (the big squishy squishy)... it wasn't that bad! My doctors office has a new digital x-ray that brings up the images right away and they have these pads that they put on the plate that are like memory foam - NO BIG DEAL! I got the technician to make me a cd of my images which I have managed to view on my computer but I can't get a jpeg to show them all to you. They are beautiful. If and when I can figure it out you're all going to see them.

Tonight is first Thursday - people I know are having shows. I may just have to go.

I think that's it for this morning... hmmmm. It's October!
