I have a few marks on my belly... they don't hurt, but they aren't going away. I'd post a picture and let you all diagnose it for me but the biggest one is right under my boob and some people might find that offensive.
I've been meaning to get it checked out but I haven't had time... maybe it's a fungus - or cancer, or an allergic reaction.... I should just bite the bullet and call the doctor I guess.
Today I am sitting at Crawl Space - you should all come see the show. I am trying to figure out which movie I should take to watch while I'm there. After that I am heading home... I know, I lead an exciting life.

shoes...
I succumbed to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I bought two pairs of shoes. One pair of tennis shoes for the gym and another pair of red flats. I heart shoes.
application time!
I have decided to apply for a few upcoming things. I'll just cross my fingers and hope that everything works out. It will do me good to get into the practice of applying. I am going to apply to the Northwest Biennial Here is the link if you want to apply yourself! I have to say that I should probably start working on something new so I have new images.
I am going to be sitting at Crawl Space on Saturday so maybe I can update my resume and artist statement while I'm there.

I think I'll try to find a good movie to watch while I'm there as well.
Only one more day left to work and then it's weekend here I come!
Okay - I'm in the zone when it comes to arranging my show in Chicago. I'm going to pull the trigger and hopefully get airplane tickets in the next few days.
I will keep you all updated. Now I guess I have to get ready for work.

It's been a long time coming.
I am FINALLY coming to you from my sofa in the living room!
I actually had the patience to look for and follow the instructions to reset the modem and get the extreme base station reset.
Now I can come to you all the time.... I know you are all excited aren't you?
I know I am.
Tonight I stopped by Isaac Layman's opening at Lawrimore Project. It is beautiful. I told Isaac if he wanted to he could give me a piece of his work. I don't think he's going to give me anything - it never hurts to ask though.
Getting back to my wireless capabilities though... now I can post pictures and links to other sites in a more efficient manner - and the best part is it's all from my lap! (well, not my actual lap, my laptop on my lap).
I think things are going to be looking up.

yikes.
I feel like I'm going to be hurting.... I finally went to body sculpting and core class last night after a few weeks hiatus. I don't hurt a lot now, but I think I may soon. I have developed a beer belly without the consumption of beer.... argh.
Today I get to do the phones for a little while. I don't really mind too much. They don't usually ring off the hook so that's good.
Tonight I am going to the opening of Isaac Layman's show at Lawrimore project. I really like his work - he took photos at my sister's wedding as well, a multi-talented fellow he is...
you should go check it out. I tried to rally my friends to go with me but they all declined. I guess I'll just have to go by myself.
I'm beginning to feel anxious about getting stuff done for Chicago. I just have to pull the trigger and get it done... I have sent a shout out to my Crawl Space friends to have them give me a pep talk. ARgh....
Oh! and congratulations to Karolina! you might remember her from my chicago posts... she got a job teaching at SAIC / intro to fibers and material studies and weaving. it makes me wish I would apply for teaching positions...
Yay for her.
I better get going, don't want to be late to answer those phones.

Rants I can't remember...
I've been thinking of rants I want to make every so often but now I am drawing a blank.
So... work is work, and I don't particularly like to talk about it too much - but I just have to say one thing. People should not question my integrity when it comes to how I conduct myself at work. I can't really go into specifics, but someone is under the impression that I have questionable ethics. They are just wrong. I know I am not a saint in other areas of my life, but at the office I can be counted on. I know it's just because this person doesn't know me that well - I just have to let it go - it still makes me cranky though.
I guess that's it. A short post this morning.

Try not to panic.
I woke up this morning starting to worry about getting everything put together for my show in Chicago in September. I know I will get everything done, it's just in the back of my mind I start worrying. I don't think it would be so bad if it wasn't all the way in Chicago and I didn't have to schedule people to sit, ship my things, and worry about installation etc.
Arrgh! I still haven't figured out how to set up my airport extreme base station.... it's making me cranky. I didn't even try yesterday. It's just too aggravating.
Okay, enough misery for a while - I did manage to sign up for the torchlight run. I also had my friend Chris search out some gps locators/heart rate monitors to incorporate into my art/running practice. Now if we could just find me an artificial knee to replace my bum one that would be great.

It would look like that!
My sister and niece are staying with us the next few days so I should probably get into the bathroom while I can.
I'll try to quit worrying.

I don't think I'm ready.
Not ready to greet the day that is...
My body is a bit sore and I don't really want to go to work. I suppose a lot of people don't like going to work but they do it anyway. I would rather go swimming and lay around outside. Now you know for me to choose to put on a bathing suit is a big deal - it just seems more appealing to me right now than filing papers.
Did you hear the news? Angelina had her babies Saturday night... Vivienne and Knox. I'm sure they're pretty good looking babies, although I think Suri Cruise is pretty stinking cute for a celebrity spawn and may take the cake. Who knew such freaks of nature could have a cute child.. oh, who am I kidding - her parents are both pretty good looking. I should be talking about Nicole Kidman's baby - Sunday Rose. I'm sure she(Nicole) got the better part of the deal in her marriage breakup (that Keith Urban sure is attractive!).
So, after spending Saturday evening with Mike Bray and his wife Anya It makes me want to get my act together and apply for teaching positions. I just have to get off my butt and do it. It would be nice to be in an institutional setting... I printed off what I need to do in order to apply for the pool of art people at WWU. It would at least be a start I think. I'm too old to be sitting around waiting for things to happen to me. Right?
I should probably go now. I don't think swimming is in the cards for me today.
and I still can't get my airport express base station to work - that makes me cranky.

What's it all about?
Happy Sunday morning to you all.
I must admit I'm sort of feeling like a dud in general (I know that I'm really not though...). Last night the opening at Crawl Space was pretty low key... not a lot of people showed up, but the caliber of people was grand.
At one point everyone was talking about different artists and I felt a bit out of the loop... I mean I get the art magazines and I try to read about what's going on but I somehow still feel inadequate.
There, I've said it. I feel inadequate.... I know, I could tell you all you ever wanted to know about where to get the best cinnamon roll or rotisserie chicken in Seattle - but to talk coherently about the art world I'm not so good. I guess I don't talk much about art because I don't want to look incompetent - It's easier to just not say anything.
Okay, I guess I should just focus on things that I am good at... like going to cycling and registering for races. I'm going to sign up for the Thorchlight run again this year. I think I'm in better shape and I might shave some time off my results. Now I just have to find a good outfit. Maybe I should go over the top when I dress up so It will distract from the fact that I'm not a strong runner. Oh, also while I was at camp I managed to mess up my digital voice recorder so now I may have to get a new one.
Now I'm off to work on the thin thighs... Later.

I have just one word.
and that's CRANKY!
I am still trying to figure out how to set up my wireless base station and it's not working.
I am going to cry - but not until after my brow waxing and massage appointments this afternoon!

garrrrrr!
Last night I went out and bought an airport extreme wireless base station so that I could finally come to you from the sofa. For the life of me I can not get it set up and it's bugging the crap out of me.
I love technology, but I hate it at the same time.
I am happy to report that the big squishy squishy went just fine. I don't understand why some people get so freaked out about it. Now I just have to wait for the results... my x-ray tech Felicia told me not to freak out if they called me back.. In some cases they call people back if they've never had it done before - they just have no baseline so they have to redo it
Okay, next subject - summer attire and what you should not wear as a woman with large breasts....
The weather in Seattle the past few weeks has been pretty nice, the only problem is that I keep seeing women well past middle age wearing these shorty sweater like contraptions that cover up just their boobs with a knot or a tie in the center.
This is what they look like in some fashion or the other.

My complaint is that older women who are really endowed and have large mid sections are wearing them as well.... the majority of the ones I see are not big enough and they look like they belong to a pre-pubescent teen!
OH MY GOD! What would Stacy and Clinton say from What not to Wear??? It is not attractive - sure, I have suffered from bad fashion a few times in my life (I used to wear fancy sweat pants at work and tried to pass them off as real pants - but I was really fat back then...) but it was never as bad as this.
Maybe I'll take the camera out sometime soon and try to get pictures.
If I ruled the world there would be some sort of dress code.
And don't get me started about proper work attire.... let's just say - if you want to get anywhere you dress for success, not a bar room brawl.

Sleeping in.
I slept in until 6:00 this morning. I know you're probably wondering if sleeping until 6 really can be considered sleeping in. Yes it can.
I have my "appointment" this morning... I'm assuming everything will be just fine. Hey, what's a little temporary discomfort in exchange for the peace of mind of knowing something's not growing inside me.
Now that I can talk about the grant and I have the money in the bank account I need to get my images re-printed and framed for my show in September. Aye yay yay! I guess that's what it means to have the life of an artist.
Hey! I get to watch a bit of the Today Show this morning! Things are looking up!

Finally.
so... my big news is that I got a grant.
Someone actually gave me $1,500 to get my I heart Ann images framed.
If you go HERE you can read my profile. Since it contains details about the other thing I'm not really supposed to talk about on my blog I just let you all do the digging and figure it out yourself... okay that was a very long sentence. I guess that's why I make art and don't edit manuscripts.
Well, I guess I should go to the gym. I don't really want to.... it's too nice outside...

so....
I can't tell you the news yet because there was a delay... I am a rule follower for the most part so I feel it is important to have that integrity. I will tell you all as soon as I can. Some of you know already - but I just can't broadcast it yet.
I am tired as usual. Yesterday I was wandering through the garage looking at my things from my studio... I need to start making things again... I don't know if I need to make things or if just thinking about them is going to be enough... It would be nice if I could find a place to make things that I could afford (damn those student loan payments!)...
it would also be nice to have an apartment of my own.. a 41 year old woman living with her mother??? I know it's alright... I get along really well with my momma but I don't want to end up on an episode of Cops where they have to come in to break up a disturbance - and they find fifty assorted small furry animals that are my "boyfriends" because I had no luck finding one on my own.
That last comment leads me to the next thought.... online dating websites.... I have a profile up a few places and sometimes I get emails asking if I want to get together for coffee... I just can't pull the trigger when it comes to responding to these people. I AM A BIG CHICKEN! For someone who can go to the Today Show everyday and talk to celebrities I don't know what my problem is...
I think maybe I'm still in love with the idea that I should just randomly find someone on the street and fall head over heels in love with them but I know that's not that easy...
Oh well... I guess I should get going....

The waiting is the hardest part.
I have my good news to tell everyone but I have to wait.... arrrgh!
Sometime today I will let the beans spill...
Work went well yesterday - it wasn't as backed up as I thought it might be. The weather is good today, I have a selection of skirts to choose from (I heart wearing skirts)... and I think I got rid of all my chin hair the other day (whew).
I let Stinky sleep with me last night so I didn't get a full night of sleep - she's a bed hog.
These two woman have the same name as me... the second one is a real estate agent in colorado...

I am happy it's Tuesday! Make sure to put on sunscreen and keep your outfits in check!

the big squishy...
Okay, I realize that people of all ages read my blog and this may be a touchy subject but I am getting my first mammogram this week. I realize that some people may be uncomfortable with me talking about it but that's just too bad.
Here is a link telling about them.
I won't go into graphic details - but I won't shy away from anything....
Let's see! What else is happening this week??? oh yeah, I have to go back to work. And I have to start thinking about getting things together for my show in Chicago in September. Being at camp reminded of the things I love most - being a goof ball and creating things. And dancing spontaneously.... Oh yeah, while I'm thinking about it I would like to thank my friend Karen for sending me mail while I was at camp. I got more mail than any of the counselors! ha ha ha!
I guess I should wrap this up and get ready to face the world. I think I need to shave my legs so that may take a few extra minutes.... blog to you later.
oh wait! We have an opening at Crawl Space on Saturday ... it's Michael Bray - he's from Eugene! Come and see him 6 - 9pm.

I think I feel better (or worse)...
I slept a ton last night. so much so that my body hurts now. I'm thinking I should unpack at some point - I've just been too exhausted to think about it.
A bunch of campers (okay four out of 61 or so) have requested to be my friend on facebook. Some of them already were my friends so my percentage is better... I feel so wanted.... Sometimes it's hard to realize the affect (effect?) you have on someone... they all have rubbed off on me (I'm using rubbed off because I don't like misspelling words...).
Today the plan is to go to the gym and then sit at the gallery for the afternoon. Maybe I should work on something while I'm there... like applying for a show or a teaching position or something.... Camp always reminds me that we should be doing what we love and what makes us happy... making art and teaching it makes me happy. I just need to do it more often.
When I got home yesterday there was a letter from the doctor. All my test results are good (if you know what I mean).. and they put down my weights from my chart. My highest weight on record was 184 in 2001. I can't even really remember what that was like.. I remember being really uncomfortable - I am really good at comforting myself with food. I saw it even at camp... I did do a lot exercising but I also ate a lot of extra helpings.... I'm okay with it though... I'm just going to have to get back on track now.
I guess that's it for now.... it's good to be back (but bad as well...).

Three hours of sleep is not enough.
I'm sitting here in the lodge. Some of the counselors stayed up all night... I know from past experience that that strategy does not work for me. I got three hours and I'm trying to function... I was told I could go back to bed, but what's the point...
I will post sometime this evening or tomorrow for you die hard fans out there.
Up above are pictures of my tree.

Update from old lake flora!
So, I'm past the midway point of camp and I have to say it's going pretty well. No major disasters yet... only a few injuries.
This is the first year in a long time that I haven't had a lot of things weighing heavily on my mind so it's kind of nice. I've determined that I'm a bit of a dud sometimes. There's nothing wrong with being a dud - I've become used to the idea in fact.
Screen printing has gone pretty well. No major catastrophes so I'm thinking we may have a winning project here.
Two of my friends from high school have kids here at camp. Yikes... it makes me feel really old (and barren??? no - barren is not the word... un-reproductive is the word I'm looking for if there is one).
I decided to opt out of boot camp this morning. Yesterday I did boot camp, turbo jam and yoga... I think I need a break. My shoulders feel like I've been wearing really big hoop earrings from back in the 80's. You remember those don't you? The ones like Paula Abdul's from the straight up video? I know you do.
On today's agenda is a service project for the camp, finishing up the olympics and a talent show tonight.
Now I just need to find a camper to give me a back rub (or a counselor... don't want any inappropriate touch to happen...).
I guess that's it for now. Maybe I'll go make some friendship bracelets...

Camp day two.
I'm sitting here thinking about going to boot camp (we have a personal trainer amongst our staff)... I'd rather just sit here and drink coffee.
Yesterday was good. I am looking forward to spending some time outside of the art room sometime in the next few days so things are looking up.
The only problem with camp is that I don't eat enough roughage. No need for me to explain more.

I managed to do it all!
as you can see from the photos we survived the big trip to the wedding... the only mishap was that one of my companions forgot her bra and she needed to borrow one from another friend. She didn't want to look like a hoochie mamma. and she didn't
I am now at camp sitting and drinking a cup of coffee and trying to think of all the things I need to do.... there are too many. As long as I can work on my flip flop tan I will be alright.
I will try to check in later but as they say in life there are no guarantees!

Get me to the church on time...
have I told you yet that I have to go to a wedding tonight? Have I told you it's going to be almost 90 degrees outside? Have I told you I am indecisive on what I am going to wear? Have I told you that I am going to probably cry like a baby because I remember when both these people were little kids??? Have I told you that weddings drive home the point that I have not had a real boyfriend since 1986 (can you believe that???)?
It's enough to drive anyone insane.
On a brighter note... I think I may have what I need packed and ready to go. I don't have a lot of time here this morning to chit chat so I will leave you with this note.
One, use sunscreen and Two, don't let the girls get too out of control when you're wearing those skimpy summer fashions.
I will try to check in with you throughout the week but I can't promise you anything.

I'm not ready.
Luckily I got out of Honda of Seattle for under $650.00. I ended up having all my belts replaced and a tune up. I suppose it's better than buying a new car right?
I have just under 24 hours to get ready for camp. Here is a LINK FOR MY ADDRESS. I Love getting mail while I'm at camp - first of all because it makes me appear as though I'm popular, and second, they make you sing for your mail... and I love to be the center of attention.
It's supposed to be nice weather this weekend so you know what that means - ALL THE HOOCHIE MAMMA OUTFITS ARE COMING OUT! People just need to learn when to cover it up.... I'm sure I will be seeing at least a few people who need a supportive bra and a sweater. Maybe I should take out the camera today and do a photo essay on it...
And while I'm thinking of it - someone at my old place of employment has stumbled upon my blog... I hope you are enjoying it... I bet you never knew I led such an exciting life. You should come clean and let me know who you are... I like having fans. If you go to I heart Ann I think there's a link there where you can email me. You know you want to do it. Live a little... or maybe don't email me... it's kind of fun being a voyeur isn't it?
Okay, times a wasting! I tried to post an image that I got when I googled the term hoochie mamma... It didn't work. It was a girl in a bikini holding a beer bottle... just visualize it and maybe it will appear. Maybe I spelled hoochie wrong.
See you later.

I can't take it anymore....
I knew this week was going to be busy. I think I'm running out of time.
Last night my friend Matt filmed at our house but I was stuck in my room for over three hours. Considering I have a ton of things to do before I leave on Saturday it kind of sucked. This morning I'm taking my car in for service. Hopefully nothing is really wrong with it and it will be good as new.
I've had a few things come up this week that I didn't plan on and they aren't going as smoothly as I'd like. It entails things I can't talk about yet, but when I can it will be good. Yeah, I know I've talked about other things I can't talk about - but this time I really mean it. I will be able to talk about it soon.
Time is slipping away... I better go get ready. I'll try to chat more later.

yeee old checkup....
Okay, here's the rundown on my Dr. visit last night. I seem to be in good health and she (Dr. Borg) thinks that weighing 152 is pretty good. so pooh pooh weight watchers and your suggested weight ranges.... she is going to call back my paper chart and find out how much I weighed at my highest so I can have a point of reference.
The best part of the evening??? okay, maybe not the best part of the evening but I got to schedule my very first mammogram! I know, you are probably all as excited as I am! I figure the least I can do is talk about it as a public service (to the ten people who regularly read my blog). It's nothing to be ashamed of... in fact it's probably going to be the most action the girls have seen in a long time.
Today's agenda is full... work (with lunch at Benihana), working out and then filming at the house. I hope I can get home by SYTYCD (that's So You Think You Can Dance for you newbies out there). At some point I think I might have to start packing.
I'm looking forward to taking a nap sometime next week....

Off the Sauce!
I decided that the muscle relaxants were making me a bit too mellow so I didn't take them last night. My face doesn't hurt, but I did have a headache when I woke up.
I got some good news yesterday but I can't share it just yet. It has put me in a considerably good mood. (no I did not get asked out by a cute man....)
Time is running out on me... I have to get everything done in a short amount of time... pack for camp, clean for the movie shoot, go to the doctor tonight to get a check up (it's been over two years.... oops!).
I've been trying to help my mom figure out the new imac... it's hard sometimes.... I think eventually she'll get it... if not, it makes a nice dvd player. We are currently having problems with email... I suppose I should try to help her out a little before I get in the shower....
As always living la vida loca!

I think I'm awake...
I can't be too sure though.
I didn't get home last night until just past midnight. Tonight will be another semi-late evening... we're doing a studio visit at 8:15 at Soil. We are going to look at Matt's work which is the show "Deep Space Punctuated by Planets"...
I really don't think I'm going to have time to do all I need to this week before I go.
Yesterday I did manage to take myself out to breakfast... I went to the Rusty Pelican. It's alright but I've had better. Right now I still think the Coastal kitchen was my most memorable outing for breakfast in recent memory.
I love breakfast, I just wish it were better for me sometimes.
Okay, I'm going to hit the shower and try to wake up a bit more...

Note to self.
So I think going out and having beer while you're on medication to relax your muscles isn't the best idea.
I'm a little bit muddy-headed this morning.
I am in the mood to have a yummy breakfast consisting of hashbrowns, sausage and or bacon and an eggy cheesy thing... That probably won't materialize though... when I'm at camp I'll get my turkey sausage (hmmmm... turkey sausage).
I am totally unprepared for camp. It starts a week from today - I have too much to do this week. Dr's appointment, filming at the house (Matt's movie), taking my car in for service, finding something to wear for a wedding next Saturday.... I'm sure I'll get it all done because I always do.
I think I'll make a list so I can start crossing things off...
Oh, I'm starting to feel a bit crampy too... oh great, one more thing to deal with.
I love you all!

About last night.
I was watching 10 years younger and I wanted to stay awake for the second reveal but I made the mistake of laying down for a second... I was out like a light. Okay, maybe a light on a dimmer. I woke up about 10 minutes later and stumbled to bed.
Today I managed to get to ww and then to the gym... I became mesmerized by This American Life and listened to it while standing in the kitchen in my sweaty workout wear... I finally managed to take a shower.
I'm thinking I should take a nap before the opening tonight at the gallery. We were written up as a best bet in the PI yesterday. I'm looking forward to it, but I think sleeping would be beneficial in order for me to fully appreciate it.

I've made a decision.
I am not going to run in the morning... I'm not really prepared (but when am I ever really??) but I think doing my regular routine will be good for me.
I did manage to get my fellowship application in and I also submitted images to the Alumni Calendar.
I'm waiting for the muscle relaxants to kick in and I will go to bed pretty soon thereafter. I'm watching 10 years younger... if I looked 10 years younger I'd look about 25 I think. At least I have a youthful appearance for an old broad.
Tonight I also searched for condos online. Not that I can afford one... but it's good to dream.
Okay, I think I need to go to bed now, I'm starting to yawn and drift. That's a good name for a band - Yawn and Drift... okay, maybe not.

What could be better?
I'm sitting on the sofa with old crusty, a pot of my black cat blend and the television humming in the background... what could be better?
Okay, laying on a warm, sandy beach with a festive drink while having my feet massaged by a handsome young man might be better but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
I still can't decide if I want to run tomorrow morning... I could record myself (the last time I ran it didn't work)... or I could weigh in and hang out with my ww friends and then work out... maybe I'll decide tonight.
Well, it's finally Friday. That's exciting... some people are going to be out of the office today so it might be kind of quiet. I find that the effects of the muscle relaxants make me kind of mellow. I don't think it makes me work slower, but I don't feel quite normal. My jaw does feel considerably better though. I guess it's the trade-off for healing.
Okay, I watch King 5 News and they have teasers for their segments called "Get Jesse". Jesse James (the reporter) goes after the bad guys and breaks car windows and makes the wrong-doers confess their sins... I find it rather amusing. I wonder what I could have Jesse fix for me? Maybe I could get him to find me a date? Now that would be a great public service.
Hmmm... I might have something there...

yep, so....
I'm almost done with my Fellowship application... Did you doubt that I would finish?
For dinner tonight I had a Peanut Buster Parfait. It was yummy. I'm sure I'm going to be up this week when I weigh in (that's assuming that I go to the meeting instead of running in the Race for the Cure)...
I can't decide what I really want to do. Do I work on my art/firm thighs campaign? Or do I go to Weight Watchers and then go to cycling? I won't be able to go the following week because I'll be going to camp... Oh the decisions.

I've got a feeling.
I think it might be a long day.
Per usual I am not wanting to go to work... a nap seems in order.
I've been Pirate sitting and he seems to be doing pretty well... he hasn't been eating a lot though. I hope nothing is wrong... I'm sure he's alright.
My face seems to be doing better. It didn't really hurt this morning when I got up. That's a good thing.
My coffee is a bit strong this morning...
Today I am going to swing up to Crawl Space for the visitation at 11:00. I also really need to start my fellowship application (since it's due tomorrow....).
I suppose I better think about getting ready for work now... it's a good thing I did laundry yesterday - I have clean underwear.

Updates on who googled me...
I was checking out my stats and someone at Cablevision googled my name with the phrase artstar after it. That's strange, why would they be doing that?? They spent almost an hour at the blog... or they could have been doing other things in between looking at what I've had to say...
Oh, another person googled "asses in jeans" again and got to the picture of me in the Target Dressing room... I bet you they were disappointed.

It's about time.
It is finally Wednesday. I don't feel as groggy as I did yesterday morning which is good. I was a bit spacey at work, but I still was able to work effectively (for those of you from work reading this...).
I am feeling unprepared for camp and getting my application together for the fellowship etc... I just need to get off my butt and do it.
Tonight So You Think You Can Dance is on... I have set the DVR to record it... Have I told you that I love cable and DVR? This way I won't have to rush to get home after being at the gym tonight.
Okay, I take back the not feeling as groggy statement. I'm not really groggy - I'm just spacing out a little bit.

Relief?
I'm not sure how I feel this morning... I think my face feels a little bit better. I don't think it hurt as much when I woke up.
My visit yesterday was almost like going to a chiropractor for your jaw.
Well, to get to my story about the MDA Lockup... I got a call yesterday while I was at work saying someone had given my name as a person to be "locked up" to help raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. It really pissed me off. Sure, I seem like a nice person who likes to help people and causes... but in reality I'm anti-social. I don't like it when people assume I'll do something... The only glimmer of a good thing is that if I agree to do this I will get taken away from the office by a Fireman. I requested that they be cute and single.
If I were trying to raise money for something I have an emotional investment in it might be different. aarrrrgh!
If you were the one who gave my name watch out, I'm not happy.
Today I am going out to lunch with some people from work - it's the birthday of one of the paralegals I work for. This is the first time I've gone to lunch with anyone from work (here)... It seems like people don't go to lunch that often... I have to eat something that I can cut up into little pieces and chew on my back teeth.
Tonight I get my hair done tonight too.. that's a good thing. I have too much grow out...
I think I might be groggy... or maybe I'm just not motivated to get going...

Goodbye chewy food - hello muscle relaxers!
It turns out that the disk in my jaw is a little bit out of place. Hopefully with some manual manipulation (sticking my finger in my mouth and massaging along the bony ridge), soft food and muscle relaxers it should get better.
I'm waiting until I'm done with the post to take the drugs. It's going to cause drowsiness and hopefully will help me not clench my teeth while I sleep.
I was cranky today... I think it's the constant headache from my jaw... I will try to remember to tell you tomorrow about my "nomination" for the MDA Lock Up... it made me cranky...
I think I better go to bed.

Are you Ready?
I'm thinking about it and I only have two more weeks to work and then I get to go to camp. That's a good thing.
I got a phone call from my former boss/hair stylist. She is a representative for a skin care line called Arbonne. She is growing her business and wants to talk to me about it. I'm a bit skeptical and I told her that much, but she is my friend so I said I would listen to her. It's bringing back nightmares about selling Tupperware (yes I did that too).
Last night I got a new flavor of rotisserie chicken - tandoori. It was pretty tasty. Not that it will replace my Greek Herb, but it was a nice change.
I didn't get around to starting my fellowship application (does that really surprise you?) but I did manage to get to the gym. I have to celebrate the small things...
Today is my appointment with the TMJ people so I'm leaving work early. Hopefully they will be able to help my face not hurt so much.
I have to leave a bit early this morning so I can get to the park and ride in time to catch the bus.

Nine and a half hours.
You would think after that many hours of sleep I'd feel better. I don't really.
This morning I am taking my dad out to breakfast for fathers day. Then I need to pick up the screen printing stuff... I didn't get around to it yesterday - I ended up taking a nap instead. I also have to go to a birthday party for my aunt and niece this afternoon... and of course, I have to put together my fellowship application.
I'm really good at procrastination. I know I'll get everything done, I just wish I didn't always wait until the last minute.
I am feeling antsy today (well - I guess for the past week)... I need to do something different... did I mention that I did talk to the Curator from Chicago and I am having a show? That means I need to start working. I am going to definitely start when I get back from camp. I need to start organizing what I'm going to take with me, and then I have to start getting them printed out and framed. Oh the work I have to do.
Now I just need to find someone to father my children someday. And take a shower...
Have I mentioned how much I like to shower? I'm at Nancy's house and she has a very nice Kohler Shower head which makes it very enjoyable to take a shower... at least I have that to look forward to today (not that I'm not looking forward to my other tasks...).
I guess I'll go now. I have to check out what's going on on Facebook. Ciao!

What's up?
Today is Saturday - but you probably already knew that....
I'm pretty bummed about Tim Russert - I used to see him when I was "stalking" Ann Curry on the today show... it's almost like I've lost a friend. I'm sure I have a picture of his shoes somewhere and I will try to post them when I get back to my own computer.
This morning I took my first cycling class since Monday. Damn, my legs hurt. That'll teach me to take more than two days off in a row. I also weighed in this morning and was down .8 pounds. Maybe that's the ticket... exercising less and eating the same. I think maybe I was not eating enough. We'll see how it goes next week before I jump to any conclusions.
Stinky is being extra "barky" today - maybe there's going to be an earthquake.
This afternoon I have a massage and then I need to purchase supplies for silkscreening at camp. I think a nap might be in order.
Sometime this weekend I need to finish up my Fellowship Application for Artist Trust. Okay, I have to Start it...
More later, I need to get jacked up on advil because my face hurts.

My face hurts.
I woke up this morning and my jaw hurts. I'm looking forward to going to the TMJ people... it's not painful enough to debilitate me but it is a pain in the butt - or should I say face. My shoulder has also been hurting - maybe that is part of the whole thing...
I got an email from the curator in Chicago whose gallery I am supposed to have a show at in September.... I hope everything is still a go. I have to get my act together. She asked a few months ago if I wanted to participate in a summer show (which I do) but she is going to be in Chicago the week I am going to be at camp. I wish I had known sooner. it sucks that I can't just drop everything and fly to Chicago... too expensive and too short of notice. I NEED A BENEFACTOR/PATRON.
Tonight I have to deliver food to our resident artist. On tap this weekend I have to get my fellowship application put together for Artist Trust, get a massage, and take my dad out to breakfast for father's day. I'm sure there's other things that I'm forgetting about... Oh yeah, I need to start planning the screen printing class I'm going to do at camp.
I better get off to start my day. SYTYCD (So You Think You Can Dance) was not a shocker last night... Rayven and Jamie were eliminated... it's too soon for me to care)...

where do they come up with these shows?
Currently I am watching Bravo's A-List awards which are kind of amusing but they had an ad on for a show where one of the people who was on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills or wherever is being set up by her ex-boyfriends.
so I realize that was a very LONG run-on sentence. I think maybe I should go to sleep... Went to the dentist this morning and he referred me to a TMJ specialist. Yippe! maliofacial disease!
Our studio intensive residency starts tomorrow... with the opening next Saturday. come and see!
viva la elvis.

What could be better?
What could be better than a good cup of coffee, a sofa and wifi? Well, I suppose financial security, the love of your life and six pack abs might be better but I don't have those right now so the coffee will have to do.
I am having a serious case of I don't want to go to work ever again... there's got to be more than this.
Camp is coming up and that will be good for me.
I have been put in charge of arranging field trips for the Crawl Space membership... we need to get out and see things but we don't always do it.... I have to figure out where we should go.
Okay - the bright spots in my life today??? Lunch with my lovely assistant Kristen and it's payday tomorrow.

sofa time...
I think the world needs more sofa/internet places.... just set up bars/living rooms with free wifi and let people come in and wear their bathrobes and slippers and surf the web and watch television at the same time.... if you hadn't figured it out I am sitting at Nancy's house with old crusty on my lap. I am currently watching So You Think You can Dance... you might recall that last year I was very involved in this show (I think it's my years of training with the Sheila Clark School of Dance)... It's too early for me to pick favorites....
So.... I get to go to the dentist tomorrow... of course my face doesn't hurt so much anymore. Oh well... it's better to find out if there is something wrong...
Today is day number two without going to the gym... it's kind of strange.
It's almost time for the season finale of Top Chef Chicago.... oh I love television.

Dreams of cake and attorneys....
I had some crazy dreams last night. I was at work but it wasn't the office, it was church... and we were having a regular party along with a surprise party for one of the attorney's birthdays. Somehow I ended up with him sitting on my lap while I was naked (I was being used as a decoy to get him to a place where we could spring the cake on him). I managed to get out of the way before everyone could see me in my birthday suit (ha ha get it?)....
It was weird. Someone else in the dream was video taping everything... they caught the attorney and I talking and I got all freaked out because I didn't want people to think that there was anything going on between us (like I had something to feel guilty about)... It was just very strange. I need to get out more.
Yesterday afternoon I was feeling very anxious. I get that way sometimes... I think I need to start thinking about making some changes in my life when it comes to the artwork... loosely translated that means I need to start making.
Tonight I start watching Pirate the cat again.... I have to figure out the commute from Edmonds. I may just end up driving my car from there to my house so I can work out after work... there goes the bank account into the gas tank...
I am going to the dentist tomorrow morning to get the tooth checked.... maybe I'll be able to cut down from 16 Advil a day...

I am going to do it...
Now I've forgotten what that was.... oh yeah, I'm going to call the dentist today and have him check out my teeth. We'll see if we can get the whole jaw aching thing taken care of.
This morning is the first morning I REALLY don't want to go to work... but I have that damn work ethic and I must go. There's more to life and I'm just not finding it right now.
Tonight is going to be a late night - we (Crawl Space) have a studio visit and then a meeting. I'm sure I won't be home until at least 11 and you know how cranky I get when I don't have any sleep.
These are Cranky Pants and that's what I'll probably look like tomorrow morning...

I suppose I should quit pooping around now and get off my ever-tightening ass... (that didn't sound too good now did it?).

Monday mornings shouldn't be this hard.
It's not really hard, but I would really like to be sleeping in today.
I have a bit too much going on this week... meetings, house sitting, and then there's that thing called a job. It would be nice if I didn't have to do all those things.
I think I mentioned a while back that my face was hurting... it still is and I think I'll break down and call the dentist tomorrow. He's not open today so I'll have to wait. I woke up yesterday and my jaw was aching.... not nearly as bad as when I had to have my root canal but still.
I think I really like this new computer my momma has... bigger screen, more groovy applications... maybe I'll get my act together and figure out how to get my laptop hooked up the the cable... I'm sure I can do it but it just take initiative on my part.
Yesterday's post forgot to include a cinnamon roll.... that was good.
Saturday was busy but good. I went to a birthday party of a former camper of mine who turned 30. Boy, where do the years go? In fact there were a bunch of former campers there and a lot of them are married and some even have kids (okay only two were married but you know....). Yikes! Where has all the time gone? Last night as I was having dinner with my mom at Claire's Pantry I realized that I'll be sixty in only 19 years... I know that sounds like a long time, but when you really think about it it's not.
Everyone out there whose not doing what you want to do JUST DO IT! You don't want to wake up when you're 40 or 50 and not be satisfied with your life....
Okay, I better get off my butt and get ready for work...

Things I ate yesterday that I shouldn't have...
Hot fudge brownie sundae (two of them)
Brownie - single serving (three)
Beer (four)
Sausage stuffed mushrooms (three)
Cured meat (6 big slices)
It sure was good though. I have no regrets.

my legs have lost all feeling.
They haven't really lost all their feeling but it's close.
Today has been a bit busy... ww, cycling, a workshop... now I have a few hours before I have get up and go out again for the evening... drinks and then a birthday party. Should be fun but tiring.
I think it's time for me to do something else... I don't know what that "else" is just yet, but I know it's not what I've been doing.
does anyone want to see my stretchmarks?

I wonder...
I wonder if I could go a day without posting... or more... what would it be like?
I know I've done it before...
I'm feeling a bit antsy today... I was going to use the word anxious but that doesn't quite fit...
I think it's the lack of not making anything in recent months... I'm itching to do stuff.
So... to continue on with my mention last night of crushes. Why is it so hard for me to let people know I think they are groovy? I think it's my fear of rejection. I think I just expect people to turn me down so I don't even bother. I have so many crushes I can't even count them on one hand. Do I do anything about it? No. What's it going to take? Looking forward to a life with 50 assorted cats and dogs and the "crazy lady" stigma attached to owning so many furry animals.
Food for thought.
Last night I went to a few openings - One was Jamie Potter's show at 4Culture I will try to get a link to it later... He makes beautiful work. If I had a spare 1,200 laying around I would buy a piece.

Hello from the imac
Let's see if this works today... it seems to be alright so far...
Good News - I got the right splitter and now I have cable...
I will post more tomorrow morning. Remind me to tell you my thoughts on crushes....

Burnt out and wireless.
Last night we did some exercises in body sculpting that totally burnt out my legs. They aren't sore this morning, but I have a feeling they will be tomorrow.
Well, I am happy to report that we have digital cable and high speed internet, but I am unable to access either one. The old splitter we had on the television won't work so I can't get the cable up to my room and then I haven't had the time to figure out the internet at all.
Wait, I just got the new imac to work so I will continue this post there... (maybe).
okay, that didn't work.....

It's a good thing but not really
I mentioned last night that I was online for over an hour trying to figure out why I haven't received any email messages since Monday afternoon. They still haven't figured it out... maybe they all disappeared with my Fedex box that I sent to myself in December.
I guess I can live without them, but it's a bit annoying....
Today we are getting our Comcast bundle which includes high speed internet! Yay! My mother will be able to set up her imac and I'll be able to play with it! Who knows, I may even blog from it. But I will not forget old crusty here (my laptop). She has served me well over the past four years.
Let me see... my shoulder still has a big knot in it and I think I may have to visit the chiropractor. I'm falling apart, but my thighs are getting firmer.
Okay, I better get going. I have to disconnect the cable that is secretly running to the television in my bedroom!

err.
I just spent over an hour online trying to figure out why my email isn't working.... so.... If you're trying to reach me you know why... you can't.
grrrrr.
grrrrr.
Pain.
My jaw has been hurting for the past few days. I can't determine weather or not it's actually my jaw or my teeth though... it doesn't hurt like when I had to have my root canal - but it's a dull ache which isn't going away... I may have to call the dentist - thank goodness I have insurance.
Speaking of pain, I'm thinking of signing up for a fitness boot camp being put on by my cycling instructor.... I don't know if I could make all the sessions but it would be fun to have my ass kicked by a professional.
More pain news... I've had a knot in my shoulder since Sunday night... that's not bringing me any joy... maybe someone should just shoot me.
Okay, enough complaining... do I have any good news??? No, not really. I let Stinky sleep with me last night. She didn't hog the bed too much.
I guess that's it for now. Catch you on the flip side...

Times are a changing (and I've gone missing)...
So... I realized that I didn't post yesterday.
Things are getting interesting.. The artist membership of Crawl Space is changing... a few people are leaving and there is a bit of a sense of unsure-edness (is that a word?).
I can understand some people's uncertainty of the future but I have faith things will work out. Change is a good thing. If I hadn't left and gone to school I don't think I'd be who I am today.
Yesterday I decided to go to the Arboretum and take pictures... I will post some later for you all. I realize that sometimes I get stuck in a rut and don't venture out much... I need to mix it up a little bit sometimes, hence the trip to take pictures.
Wednesday we get Cable Internet! Yay! I hope that we can manage to get me hooked up as well and the new computer.... I should probably look into an airport base station so I can connect wirelessly... Oh the things I will be able to do (sit on the sofa and blog)... online chats with single men.... ordering online with QVC while I watch...

A beautiful day to be bloated.
The birds are chirping, the sun is starting to peak out behind the clouds and I'm gassy as all hell.
Oh well, this soon will pass (get it??? - pass gas??? I am too funny).
Today I get to weigh in, go to the gym (cycling class was all filled up but hopefully there will be some no shows)... then I'm off to a script read through (my friend is making a movie)... and then my massage.
Did I tell you all that I'm crampy too?? I'm sure you wanted to know.
I better head out. I don't want to be late.

Friday/Payday - Yay!
so... last night's episode of Lost was really good... I had to stay up and watch it so that means that tonight I will be going to bed at 8pm... maybe I'll have a last chance workout too...
Isn't it always the shortest weeks that take the longest to get here? I think so...
I can't wait until 5:00pm.
If you couldn't tell I was a bit perturbed in my last post... People just make me cranky sometimes....
If I had a throwdown with the person who made me cranky I would win in a heartbeat.
I started late in my post this morning so I better go...
All you micro-managers out there - STOP! Someone is going to go postal on you! Don't say I didn't warn you....

People need to get a life.
Certain people need to worry more about their own crap than mine.... If I were breaking the rules I could understand them worrying - but I'm not, so get a life!
I know, what goes around comes around... I hope it comes around threefold! - And gives them a bad rash with welts and blisters.
I know, what goes around comes around... I hope it comes around threefold! - And gives them a bad rash with welts and blisters.
excess overhang...
Last night as I was looking in the mirror during my body sculpting class I realized that I have a serious case of formerly fat girl extra skin overhang. That's the little lumpy roll of excess skin that doesn't shrink back when you lose weight. It may tighten up over time, but for now it's all hanging loose in between the band of my sports bra and the waistband of my pants... sort of like my tummy's very own double chin.
I know you are enjoying that visual.
Things are going along as they normally do... my lower back is a bit tight but I have a massage appointment on Saturday... my eyebrows are getting waxed tomorrow... it will be payday.... things could be much worse.
I am going to cross my fingers and hope that the weather clears up soon... I really want to get my legs exposed and work on my leg-tan...

I don't know what to do....
I'm not in the mood to work today. I don't want to get dressed and I don't want to be friendly. But I will, because I have to.
I suppose I should look at the bright side. Only a month until I get to go to camp - that will do me good.
Yesterday I had lunch with my friends Tia and Julie. Julie is on her way home from Bejing. She's been there the past five months learning Mandarin. I tried to convince her to move to Seattle. She asked me the other day why I didn't mention that Seattle was so enchanting. I guess I never thought of it as enchanting... if you've always lived someplace it's hard to forget the real beauty of the place. I guess it is nice, the water, the green-ness, the mountains - I suppose enchanting fits.
Last night I took a walk. I don't take nearly as many walks as I used to - maybe I should start taking more. Work on those legs in another manner...
Blah....

I can do it!
I can get up and go to the dentist this morning. I can control what I put in my mouth today. I can learn how to love myself just the way I am!
I just need to give myself a little pep talk every once in a while.
I've decided I really don't like having to work for a living. At least working in a non-art related field...
Maybe I should go back and get my masters degree in museum studies or visual and critical studies... no, I've spent enough money as it is...
I just think that I should be doing more sometimes... If I could find a part time job that pays what a full time job does that would be ideal. Then I could have some spare time to work on art.
Who am I kidding, I'll just keep trudging along doing what I'm doing.
I updated jeneratorrunning with my results from the Beat the Bridge Run.... not photos though. I was looking at some of my earlier posts from races and it does appear that my thighs are shaping up nicely. That's something I can get excited about.
Only a little over a week and then we'll have high speed internet - I am very excited. My momma purchased an imac. It is beautiful, but she can't get on the internet yet because there is no jack to plug in a phone line without a modem (you see? dial up is so archaic!). Well, she can watch dvd's and listen to CD's on it which is nice. It makes me a bit jealous. The screen is so big! I need to find a benefactor.

Hello Monday.
It's nice to have a day off... especially since I went out last night and stayed out a little longer than I should have.
However, I did get to see Footloose again after many years so it was worth it.
Yesterday turned out to be pretty nice. I went to Greenlake and bought myself a new pair of running shoes so I should be all ready for the Race for the Cure in a few weeks.
Today my mother and I are going to go computer shopping. She's going to buy an iMac. It's going to be so exciting. Yay! On the fourth we're getting high speed internet! Everything is just swell around here.
The only thing that could make life better is if I had a teaching job, a tan and my right knee magically worked well. (someday I'll show you all my scars so you can see what I'm talking about)...
Besides shopping for computers, I will be attending the Slide Crawl tonight and maybe going to the mall to look at shoes. Ahhhhh, Nirvana!

It's about time...
You were probably wondering where I was.
It's hard to keep up with things when you are involved with an almost-two year old.
Happy Memorial Day Weekend! I sure hope everyone is having a good time and not getting too intoxicated or sunburned. That would be a bad thing.
I have had a bit too much cycling today but that's about it. Yesterday was a bit slow at Crawl Space, but what do you expect? It's a holiday weekend! I did manage to watch the movie Knocked Up while I was there. I give it a B. It is what it is.
Tomorrow night is the Slide Crawl... there's been a change of the artist lineup... Susan Robb has canceled but we have Eli Hansen instead. It should be a good time and everyone should come.
This afternoon I have to deliver some contraband items to my father (shampoo and windex)... as you probably guessed it's not really contraband, I just wanted it to sound more interesting than it was.
That's about it.

I'm a cranky old woman.
I realize that sometimes I can come off as a bit cranky. I went to the MFA opening last night. It was alright... nothing too earth shattering though (in my opinion). When someone asked my opinion about the show I wasn't very positive - and now I feel kind of bad... maybe I just need to go back and look at it when there's not so many people around.
I am going to be sitting at Crawl Space today so all of you should come see the show and me! I think this will be a good opportunity to work on things. I always say that and end up not doing them...
My niece Katie is spending the night with us tonight. It should be interesting. It's going to be the first time she's been away from home.
I am cranky this morning... Not overly cranky but just cranky enough. Hopefully I will snap out of it soon.

The hairs on my chin.
I hate to say it but my chin hair seems to be growing faster than normal. Maybe I've hit peri-menopause? Maybe I'm just more anal about grooming.
Well, I didn't go to see the studio last night - something suddenly came up... okay it wasn't suddenly - something just came up. However, that did free me up to go to the gym and watch So You Think You Can Dance. I must say - as reality type talent shows go that is one of my favorite.
NEWS FLASH! As I got home from the gym last night my mother was talking to some guy in the house... IT WAS COMCAST! I will have high speed internet soon enough! Not to mention we will have On Demand and who knows - maybe I'll be able to record programs!
Oh, I am in love! With Comcast!
Okay, back to my life... Hopefully today will not be long and painful at work. People are bound to be antsy because of the three day weekend. Tonight I am going to the MFA show opening at the Henry Art Gallery for the UW Students and tomorrow I might possibly be sitting at Crawl Space.
My blog is boring... who wants to read about this crap? (okay - I was having a bit of self-doubt there...). Maybe it was my other personality speaking...

Artificial knees.
I don't have lack of sleep to blame for the lame-ness of this post this morning. I did have a few dreams last night in the 8 hours of slumber (yes, I was in bed at 9:30)... first off in the dream world, one of the partners complimented me on how well I paged people, then I was walking down Lake City Way through a bunch of cross-dressers and into the a hair salon to see if I could get a manicure.
I think I had an "I'm almost going to have sex dream" too. Not one where you're actually having it, but you know you WILL have it. I suppose that's what happens when you aren't getting lucky with the boys...
okay, I should get off that subject because I want this to be a family friendly blog.
My supervisor is off work today and tomorrow. I told her not to worry - she said we were doing "Okay" not a "good job" but that's alright... I know I can handle the responsibility. I'll try not to get any paper cuts or dry hands from handling all that paper. I'll stock up on lotion.
Today I am going to lunch with my lovely assistant Kristen. We are going to Sazerac. I've never been there. Tonight I am looking at studio space - I might actually find someplace to make work.
Oh the excitement!

Is it Friday yet?
I was so in the mood to sleep in this morning. I think I could sleep for another five hours and It would feel great!
I do have the three day weekend to look forward to though...
I did find my results for the beat the bridge run. I think I ran it in 53.4 something... that's including my time with the bridge being up... maybe if I had trained I would have done better... there's always next time.
I signed up for the race for the cure... maybe I'll improve my time with that.
I got an email from a person I know (Linda) giving me an update on the one thing that I really can't talk about. It turns out that I won't be able to talk about it for at least another month or two... I'm been thinking it's been about a year since I haven't been able to talk about it.. so it's almost like it didn't really happen. But it did.
I think I'm ready for a vacation with a cute Italian boyfriend. Or an Italian vacation with a cute boyfriend... or just a vacation.

The lower half
of my body is not working too well this morning. I should have taken the day off from the gym last night but I didn't. I will take this evening off and let my knee, thighs, calves and ankles heal a little bit. The lower back ain't so hot either.
This morning I am going to the dentist to have a few fillings done. Oh goody!
Okay, back to me...(I supposed I never really strayed off the subject of myself..) I was trying to look up my results for the beat the bridge run but I can't find myself. When I type in my bib number it comes up with some 28 year old woman... I tried emailing the timing place but the email bounced back as undeliverable. That sucks. I want to know how I did... even with the four plus minutes I stood waiting at the bridge.
I've been contemplating finding a studio to make work in. My friend Tim is looking to share his studio and I'm tempted... there are too many reasons to find to not make work though... I have to think about it... I'm more interested in finding a cute running skirt than I am in finding a studio.
Okay, this just in - Katie Holmes is going to Broadway... it's sad really. I met someone in school who had worked on Dawson's Creek and she said that she wasn't the brightest bulb (if you know what I mean)... I bet she has thin thighs though.

Word on the street is...
that I looked "supercute" on the news... that's a relief. Too bad I didn't manage to impress any cute boys while I was stuck waiting for the bridge to go up and down... Oh well, they say the best laid plans (something something something...).
My legs feel like they are jello this morning - not as bad as I think they could be, but not so good either. Someone did tell me yesterday that I had nice legs.... that's nice.
I've been wearing my fit flops too so maybe that's helping as well.
Today - what is going on... work, cycling, looking cute... I think that's about it.
Maybe I will contemplate getting a running skirt... I like skirts and I sort of like running. Sort of... there were some people wearing them with more interesting looking legs than mine so I think I could pull one off.
Now I just have to find the next race to sign up for.

maybe I should have trained more...
I have to run five miles this morning and I'm not sure I can do it... oh, I know I can do it - but it won't be pretty.
Last night I ended up helping wash dishes so I didn't make it to the opening at Crawl Space (which kind of sucks - but mom trumps opening)...
I'm not quite awake here - maybe you can tell... I just end up staring at the screen and zoning out. Maybe once I get moving I'll wake up.
Back to running - I didn't even have time yesterday to pick out a cute running outfit... oh well, if I get stuck behind the bridge people will just have to deal with me how I am...Naturally beautiful and tired looking.
Okay, I zoned out again... better get going.

It's all about Saturday... and me.
I woke up disoriented this morning. I couldn't figure out if it was a weekday or the weekend... let's just say I'm glad I figured it out.
Not much time to post anything this morning because I need to get off to the old weigh in... then it's time for coffee and then the gym. I ended up not going to mop the gallery last night. I'm going to do it this morning after class.
Oh yes, I talked to a boy yesterday (sort of...). It's good to get out of your comfort zone every once in a while.
It's supposed to be nice again today - my self tanner worked out pretty well. Soon enough I'll have toned and tan legs!
I would have to say that the high point yesterday was finding the Whole Foods down on Westlake and 9th Avenue... Lot's of construction workers go there for lunch. I may have found my new place to hang out...
Okay everyone, remember your spf 30!

Hello pasty leggs...
get out the sunglasses! I just might bare my legs today and I don't want to blind anyone. Don't say I didn't warn you.
It's supposed to get into the mid 80's today - it will be just right.
I think I may have to start wearing my fit flops in order to get a good foot tan... my feet are naturally beautiful (with all their imperfections) and they look even better with a tan.
Sunday I am going to attempt to run in the beat the bridge run. I am hoping that the cycling classes will have paid off at least a bit when it comes to my endurance. I have to dig out the new microphone and figure out an outfit to wear... oh the excitement is building.
Tonight I am going to mop the gallery (I know, it sounds like fun but it has to be done)...
Work should be quiet today a few people will be out and that means I can get a bunch of filing done.
Hmmmm... maybe I should get going and put on some tan in a can (okay - really it's in a tube)...

I think I'm alright...
It's Thursday. Although I can see the weekend in the distance there's still two days until it gets here and I'm not sure I can wait.
The body hurts....
On a purely trivial matter, I was glad to see Whitney become America's Next Top Model last night. It's time a realistic sized woman won this thing... In real life she's probably skinny and you wouldn't even realize she's known as "full figured" in her business.
Tonight the season finale of the Office is on and then Lost. I must say that I haven't been doing my television watching duties that well recently... I guess that's what happens when you start having a life.
I think that's about it today... I think I'll take a day off from the gym today. My knee is beginning to feel strange and I need to keep it in shape for Sundays run... That reminds me that I still need new shoes... and a boyfriend.

RIP Bob.
Robert Rauschenberg died yesterday. Here is an article about him.
Things have settled down surrounding the blog. I think maybe too much was made of it... now, if I were soliciting dates or running a prostitution ring with it I could understand the concern, but there's not anything exciting going on here.
Next Subject...
I'm not 100 percent sure but I think my thighs are getting littler since I started taking the cycling class. I measured them the other day - I just need to find my notes where I recorded their size earlier in the year.
Next Subject...
Property ownership... I've been thinking about the idea of buying property. I have the desire to own a piece of land... is it feasible? Am I out of my mind? Can I commit to that sort of endeavor? I'm mulling it over... Maybe when I sell enough artwork I can buy something... or just move to Italy. Maybe I could buy something in Italy?
I guess that's enough today... I think I might take the bus to the gym when I get off work and then walk home after cycling... that way I can do body sculpting, core and cycling. Look out skinny jeans...

We're headed for a scorcher...
It is reported that it will be in the 70's and 80's towards the end of the week. You know what that means. Self tanner weather. I am going to do an extra special job of shaving my legs and apply that magic lotion to bring out the glow in my pasty white legs... then I'll be able to wear all my cute skirts.
Now if I could just manage to walk in cute pointy-toed shoes without falling down that would make life perfect.
My father managed to lose his wallet in my car on Saturday... I'm going to return it tonight. Maybe I'll walk around Greenlake when I'm done - a different sort of thigh firming exercise.
Not much more to say this morning... I'm off to download my Death Cab for Cutie album on iTunes...

Gold Pointy Shoes of Death.
Well, I fell on the way into work this morning. I have got to get some different soles put on these shoes...
I don't think death is a fair trade-off for cute feet.
I don't think death is a fair trade-off for cute feet.
More muscles I forgot I had...
Saturday I did the body sculpting class and then cycling. I'm not sure if I was working harder than normal or if I'm just a wimp, but my body is still sore... this time it's the backside and the shoulders. Thank goodness I had that massage scheduled so I don't think I'm suffering as much as I could be.
I wouldn't really call it suffering though... I intentionally put myself through it.
Have I told you all that when I'm in the middle of my cycling class and don't think I can take any more I pretend that I am a contestant on Survivor and I am in an endurance challenge. I try to hold out the longest so I can take home the cash prize. In this case there is no prize (except a firmer leg and thigh area). It seems to give me the extra push I need. I also think about other areas that will benefit from this activity but I can't talk about them here... because of my younger readers.
Yesterday I spent quite a bit of time at Northgate, I didn't really do any serious retail therapy, but I did run into my friend Bill and we did some Mall Walking (yes - I am what you would call a mall walker)... I don't do it as much as I used to but I still do it. It was hard dodging all those people filing in and out of See's Candy. Hmmmm. Candy.
On this weeks agenda is an opening at Crawl Space on Saturday and training for the Beat the Bridge run on Sunday. I'll have to find my fancy new microphone to record myself when I'm running. I may also have to get a new outfit to run in... I have to look cute because if I get caught behind the bridge, I might run into my future husband while I'm waiting for the bridge to go back down.
I should probably get going now... I had dreams last night that I had my own apartment... maybe that's a premonition. I'm sure my mother would like to push me out of this nest...

It's not you, It's me... seriously.
Why do I think anyone would be interested in this blog? It's all about me, my insecurities, my obsessions, my feet....
Karolina once told me that all my artwork was trying to say "look at me!". I was surprised and sort of hurt by that statement but she was right. At the time I didn't really see it but it was there. It's like this blog... my tiny attempt to say "look at me" on a global (and free) scale. Am I really that interesting? I don't know... I'm just normal (in a weird sort of way)...
I think my work tells stories about myself that are possibly too hard to write or talk about.... the way a musician sings to tell stories...
Okay, enough reflection. I'm off shopping. I am going to celebrate my mother by making myself happy... you know, happy daughter, happy family.
I may look at new running shoes for the beat he bridge run next week. In cycling class yesterday I got a compliment from the instructor... maybe all this work will improve the running considering I'm not in training....

Weclome to my exciting life.
It consists of a few things.
Eating, sleeping, art-making(sometimes), blogging and working.
That's about it.... you won't find anything too interesting here.
Maybe I can get myself into some trouble and cause a scandal! No, that's not my style... as the description of my blog says - I'm just an almost middle-aged woman trying to get lucky. In life that is.
And what I said yesterday about being stimulated, I only meant that in the purest of ways... seriously.
Okay now, I guess this is over. The post that is - I've got to go gear myself up for another weigh in.
Eating, sleeping, art-making(sometimes), blogging and working.
That's about it.... you won't find anything too interesting here.

Someone at work googled me...
And I don't mean Google in the way I use the term in my artwork... (some of you will know what I'm talking about). Someone actually spent a bit of time here at the Rant...
I wonder if this person will actually tell me they're looking at the blog... If they dig deep enough they might find out all the dirt on me - like my obsession with rotisserie chicken and my desire to find the cutest pair of shoes that doesn't hurt my feet.
Speaking of shoes, I fell down on the way to work yesterday and skinned the top of my foot. I also hurt my cute gold pointy-toed shoes...
I may have to make a date with my chiropractor being that I landed pretty hard on my left side and my body is a bit sore (or is that because of my desire to attain a firm mid-section?)... I don't exactly know, but I do know I hurt.
Next subject... I got my economic stimulus check deposited in the bank today... I'm going to stimulate the economy by getting a massage tomorrow and then putting the rest in savings. I enjoy being stimulated... hmmmmm.... yes I do.

Slow synapses.
Once again I am exhibiting symptoms of being old (or just being overextended)... I really did not want to get up this morning... finally I got out of bed and hooked up the laptop... I was going along trying to check my stats for the blog and couldn't figure out why it was taking so long. Well, my connection failed and it took me a good five minutes to figure out that it was down.
It's going to be a good day - I can tell.
My body survived abs and cycling for now... the story may change by tomorrow morning.
Today I am having lunch with some friends from my old place of employment. I haven't seen them for at least 3 years... they work down in the Portland and Vancouver area. I like seeing people I haven't seen for a while.
HERE'S SOME BIG NEWS...
Michael (TCBFC) and his wife are going to have a baby! That's good news.... but it just reminds me that my eggs are shriveling up and being expelled while I type... it's like the big timer on Days of Our Lives... slowing emptying into the abyss. Oh well, at least I'll have firm thighs.

I don't understand it?
I don't understand a lot of things.... why do I have such a hard time getting out there and meeting people, why do I have such a hard time waking up in the morning sometimes? Why do birds suddenly appear (no, wait that's a Carpenters song...).
NO rhyme or reason to this post this morning I guess.... I did make an appointment to get a massage this Saturday... hopefully it will help my achy neck and shoulders...
This evening I'm planning on taking the abs from hell class and cycling as well. We'll see if I can walk tomorrow.
On the art front, I am going to distribute postcards today for the next show at Crawl Space.... it's called Landmark and features the work of Jenene Nagy and Eroyn
Franklin... it opens on the 17th.
I guess that's it for this morning... I know you're waiting for more but there is none.

Is it Friday yet?
Yesterday at work both the receptionist and the backup were gone. I only had to sit up at the desk for the afternoon, but you probably know by now it's not my favorite thing to do.
I'd rather rather walk over a bunch of hot coals into a swimming pool filled with cat pee than answer the phones for the rest of my life. I don't mind answering the phones, I just don't like being tied to one spot. It puts a cramp in my style...
Well, here's a status update for the breakdown of my body... my neck is now very stiff... I think it's a result of using my shoulders the other day and overcompensating with my neck (or something like that). I may have to make a date with the Chiropractor soon.
Tonight I have an appointment to get my hair fixed... I must say I will take the trade-off of beautiful hair for pushing papers around for 8 hours a day. I actually didn't have to deal with all those icky roots this time (they are camouflaged very well).
Hmmm... I'm feeling crampy - great, just what I need. PMS to the tenth power.

coming to you live from a bus!
I happened to get on a 522 this morning that is equipped with wifi so I am coming to you live on my way to work.
Right now we are riding along Lake City Way (We're really close to Dick's Drive In Right now).
Hopefully we won't have any abrupt stops so my laptop won't go crashing into the aisle.
I'm sitting in the back and a gentleman just sat next to me (he smells a bit like an ashtray - but that's alright.)
I like the idea of being able to blog on a bus... maybe I should just ride the routes and do postings on public transportation.
I guess that's going to be it for now... since I've got the free wifi I am going to update my iTunes...
(my laptop almost fell off my lap there.... I better go.).

You know you're getting old when...
You know you're getting old when you can't stay up past 11 p.m. without it ruining your life.
The brain is moving a bit slower than normal this morning. I'm not sure if I can come up with anything witty to say.
Yesterday was slow at the gallery, even so, I didn't get any of the work done that I wanted to... when I got home I just vegged out on the sofa for the rest of the evening.
I did almost nothing this weekend and I kind of liked it.
Maybe I should do nothing more often.

Even more sore??!?
Yesterday I decided to partake in a Body Sculpt class. It's description is as follows - Strength training with light weights and bands for lean muscle mass. It should say 30 minutes of work to remind you of the muscles you forgot you had.
Those muscles would be triceps, deltoids, glutes and quadriceps.
I think I will survive but it may take a day (or two). I think I might take a day off from the gym.
I am going to be sitting at the gallery today so you should all stop by and see Tony's show while you can.
I'll take some photos today and try to post them next week.
I think I should get off my strained glutes and get ready for the day.

Break out the big underwear.
It's official. I had to put on big underwear today. My underwear is a barometer to my weight. When I start getting too big my underwear rolls down and gets caught under my roll of excess skin/belly fat and makes it very uncomfortable to live.
You might have noticed that I used the word underwear here as opposed to panties. I dislike the word panties with a passion. Panties go on pork chops or rack of lamb... that's it.
and who in their right mind wears a matching bra and "panties" set? Only runway models that I know of.... Real women wear underwear.
Amen.

What to do?
I'm not really in the mood to do anything today.
I'd like to sleep.
I'm kind of cranky.
My body still hurts.
I have to weigh in and I'm not dreading it exactly but I'm not looking forward to it. I need some motivation to get back on track.
Maybe it's the pms talking here...

ouch.
I thought I was sore yesterday but I was wrong. It feels like an elephant sat on my chest for five hours...
Last night I went to First Thursday and ran into two of my friends from the UW. I haven't seen them in a long time. It's nice to see people you haven't seen in a while... Trina and Stephanie studied in Rome with me back in the day. They are both painters.
Well, it's Friday and the sun is shining (sort of)... maybe something exciting will happen today...
While I was flying home on Monday I thought about blogging about the following things.
People who make out on airplanes (there was a couple across the aisle from me)...
People who disregard the instructions of the flight crew (using those electronic devices and going to the restroom while the fasten seatbelt sign is on)...
and, my chicken-ness.
Maybe someday I will blog about them.
Here is what Regina Hackett said about Tony Weather's show at Crawl Space.

I forgot that I have abs...
Last night I went to the gym and took a "Core Strength" class and then did cycling.
I feel like I've been hit by a truck. Seriously, I had to roll myself out of bed. My obliques are barking. I suppose this is a good thing though... in addition to having firm thighs by summer, I'll have a four pack! (I'm starting small)...
My butt hurts from sitting on the saddle of the bike...
I had some weird dreams last night... I do remember there being snacks involved (cake) and sitting in a car listening to the radio... an invitation to ride a motorcycle and that's about it... one of those vague dreams... Chuck McGifford was involved (I attended elementary and middle school with him... possibly high school as well but I don't recall). It was strange, but not that strange.
tonight I am meeting up with my friend Tia (the jewelry maker) and we're going to first Thursday... Also, my friend Jenna is dressing up like a 40 foot tall cake and dancing on Harbor Steps so that should be interesting as well...
I guess I should pack it up now... I think it might take a little longer than normal to get ready since I can't really move.
